U mean Mexico vs. Brazil? I have a good idea what happened there. The organizers for Mexico vs. Brazil were looking for a date to settle on and more information and the Brazilians never got back to them in this regard so that’s what happened. I’d love to talk with the organizers and reorganize this again/pick up the lose pieces if at all possible…and even throw in Peru in there because I have heard about them as well and I have heard about those names being tossed around in 2k2.
I have to agree. I learned the big difference when I went from watching Mr. Big’s Franco in Real Bout 2 to actually playing some casuals against his Franco.
Huh? Having a chance of winning and being better than someone, are two seperate things. You’re arguing something else. Clearly Wong and the other players in the US team were not better than the players that they were playing in SBO, but they still had chance (fairly small) of winning.
So in other words…you would be unable to identify that Japan was (obviously) better than US in 3S until you saw some Japan vs. US matches? If so, then you’re deluded and it’s not really possible to have this discussion with you.
You know, I bet I can use your argument to say that I truly don’t know who is better between me and Kuroda in 3S until I actually fight him. Yeah right…
Just because you don’t know how to analyze matches (and thus saying KO’s Yun didn’t look that great) doesn’t mean other people can’t.
?
I had no trouble seeing exactly why Dakou and Xiaohai were great in kof2k2. I was able to see those “intangibles” - like how they respected each other’s skill and had no doubts that their opponent would read their actions and so took the mindgames to much higher layers - things lower level players would not notice. And I had no trouble identifying many of the baits placed by both players, why they were placed and why they worked/didn’t work.
I have a feeling you don’t know much about what it truly means to be good at kof and that you can’t really seperate the “average” players (or actions of a player) from the great ones.
Okay everyone let’s collectively agree that this topic will never reach an answer UNTIL TOURNAMENTS HAPPEN IN PERSON and just let it die…that means if Emil wants to believe the Japanese are Gods on Earth and he’s their royal dick sucker let him…
If he wants to believe Abraham is #1 based on one person’s opinion on Cyberfanatix (And he cant even READ THE Spanish they are all saying AFTER THIS just the English) LOL Let him.
Listen dude, playing someone in person and watching someone play are 2 entirly different things. As an example, look at most high level ryu’s in SF2…the casual observer would only assume he is spamming projectiles but doesn’t take into account the mind games and strategy taking place. Sometimes match video’s can be misleading, KO’s yun does not play that different from other yuns when u observe him yet there is a clear difference in ability and skill between him and other yun’s.
Infact, misleading conclusions are pretty common and frequent when you’re simply a spectator. I’ve been in numerous online lobbies in HDR where I have destroyed and wrecked entire rooms very brutally and easily…and u would not believe the amount of pm’s I get from the players who simply watched and left out of fear. They would responde with"wow fei long is top tier"or"wow ur fei is the best online"or"damn, fei is cheap and ur gay for using him". By simply"watching"and not engaging me directly they came out with a skewed conclusion that was based soley on there observation…it wasn’t even a conclusion they tested for themselves.
In other words, to bottomline all of this…while the jap players might look especially Godly in ur opinion that doesn’t mean they are. I have seen matches with top players that didn’t look to impressive and likewise I have seen matches from lower ranked guys that have looked better. Going by ur logic, I would rank people above other people whom they have no biz being mentioned with. It’s all about context, and when ur judging high level play you have to go by more then just how pretty the match looks.
So then im assuming u have ranked high in high level tournies then, exactly wat makes ur perspective so much more credible…watching high levels doesnt mean shit son.
He hasn’t ranked high in ANYTHING (Maybe like ranked players on GGPO/2DF but does that hold any weight?? )…He ONLY plays online…so once again you gotta take his overanalytical POV with a grain of salt…
lol wow…he was talking so much crap I assumed he must have been some high level USA player or something. Now that I know he is just “another guy” why the hell are we debating with him lol,his argument holds no weight now.
Fuck that. I’m just going to toss a boatload of American women and they’ll be too busy trying to hit on and always getting rejected. But to keep it on topic the argument lasted quite a while. Flabbergasting.
Just another guy? I’m probably the best kof2k2 player in Canada/US. I’ve issued challenges to anyone that wants to play on 2df/GGPO, including Dark Geese. For somethingthat would take him a mere 5 minutes to set up, he still hasn’t bothered.
And DG, I find it very hard to believe you tried setting it up and failed…did you really try? Do you know how to forward ports? It’s pretty obvious what the issue is here…you KNOW that with GGPO/2DF, you can have access to playing me whenever you want. To get out of this, you use the excuse that online is meaningless (even though you haven’t tried GGPO/2DF and it is leagues better than anything else online - so good that Dakou would play on it and you would NOT be able to tell he’s even playing online if you watched his GGPO youtube videos).
You’re just afraid and hiding behind the “online is meaningless” excuse.
I don’t really need to attend tournaments to know my skill level compared to others. Being realistic, I know I’m not the best kof98 player in Canada/US because I know some fobs are better than me here (even ones I haven’t played yet).
Also, skill can mean a lot of things…you can know all the high level theories and the psychology of the top players and not be able to execute it well in matches (due to not being able to think fast enough when it matters). In my case, I know pretty much everything there is to know about kof2k2, and can put most of it to practice (what seperates me from the best players around the world would be 1) they have better execution 2) they have better self awareness of their actions, resulting in more creativity while getttng punished less and 3) they react faster/think quicker in certain situations.
These differences don’t prevent me from having insight as to what strategies are of higher value, which plays are worthy of acknowledgement and which aren’t.
You don’t need to be a top player in the game itself, to know what’s up. You just have to do your research and be smart/open minded when analyzing matches, putting yourself into both player’s shoes in a situation and analyzing possibilities.
You should play him Evo and find out. Wouldn’t hurt right? You’re both in Canada and you can do it on 2DF so it’s recorded and saved. I played Emil. Never had any lag and he never said anything about lag vs me. So go for it. What’s the worse that can happen?
I don’t think I’d want Emil representing the US as the best in kof2002. Something doesn’t feel right about having the “best” of the US bending over for the Japanese and using ggpo/2df to justify his kof2002 status.
