Sanford is garbage at Tekken as is Wong. Wong has never been good at Tekken, not even remotely good. Not sure why anyone thought he was ever good at Tekekn
What games could you legitimately say Tokido is one of THE best players in though? SF4 and…? MvC3 is too early to say. He won SBO in CvS2, but fairly early in the game’s life. He does well in 3S and ST, but arguably not as well as other specialist players, plus he teams with people better than him. He’s definitely one of the best players ever simply for consistent strong performance across probably more games than anyone else, but I find it hard to say he’s one of the very best in many specific games.

Mother fugga top 8’s every game he plays.
Doesn’t eddie get bodied in SF4 the easiest fighting game ever made? And Tomo was so bad at ST that he quit fighting games. Surely these can’t be candidates for best FG player of all time. I’m still waiting for someone to name anyone more worthy than Tokido. Doesn’t matter if its 3d or 2d he plays them all and consistently places high. I’m sure that he is talented enough to master a game if he actually focused on it instead of playing multiple games.
Plus he had the best win pose in video game history. Not to mention that he graduated from one of the top universities in the world in Engineering. I’m trying to think if anyone is a better overall person than Tokido.
Tomo started to quit during HF, coming back here and there to dominate the competition. By SSF2 he had quit completely. In earily ST he played some casuals against Watson and lost badly. His interests from what I’ve read weren’t on FGs anymore. But he’d still probably body you in any game that he took seriously.
Eddie I don’t know. I know he was supposed to make a comeback a year or so ago but haven’t heard anything about his placings. But like Tomo would body most of us in the games that he used to play seriously back in the day.
Capcom games are really random now. No one player has really been dominate in the SF4 series, nor in MvC3. Every major a new player seems to win the tournament. With all of the comeback mechanics and other BS in the games seems to support those results and thus shouldn’t be used as a measure of a players worth if those players stoped playing 10-15 years ago.
Whoever is the best at 3S, MvC2, and/or CvS2 are the best FG player of all-time.
Charlie Sheen
I would vote for Daigo or Tokido overall.
…but LOL @ Daigo being anything more than a joke in GG.
As far as GG is concerned? Ogawa? Nope, wouldn’t even think to vote for him. He’s a beast but still. N.O is a good choice but I would say Koichi. He’s been in every SBO this far. He won DF2 (taking out NO & Dogura) He beat Woshige (regarded as the best Millia) in a SBO mirror match. He won the 100 vs 1 tournament plus there is the Koichi @ G3 video.
Nuki is at least as much of a valid pick for ‘best ever’ as Daigo and Tokido. A legit contender for THE best player in ST and 3S (neither Tokido nor Daigo can make this claim except maybe Daigo in ST), the top Japanese A2 player, a top player in VF4, and at least very strong if not top of the top in VSav and CvS2. Don’t forget about him just because he ditched SF4.
It also must be noted that this is a very Capcom-centric discussion and the SNK scene (and GG, since there’s some degree of overlap there) has its own players who have dominated in many games.
Yeah I was surprised how little people seem to know about Nuki.
You can’t talk about Tokido and Daigo without mentioning Nuki. They are the original 3 gods of FGs after all.
On Tomo and SFII:
I’ve posted this before, but I’m not convinced Tomo was the best SFII player in the world. One of the best for sure, but I remember a post from LAAkira who said that when he was in Japan, there was a player called Tachikawa who was at least on Tomo’s level, and that there were loads of other very strong players in Osaka. People also don’t seem to realize that even some of the Japanese ST greats started playing way back in WW. ShootingD is considered to be the best SFII Ryu player in Japan, and he’s been playing since WW. Perhaps Tomo was in fact better than all of these guys, but there’s no way of knowing now who was the strongest player.
yo dawg all i care about is who is the greatest marvel vs capcom 3 player of all time cuz that shit is hype
Kinu said Tomo would have been at least top 3 in Japan.
I do too, does that increase my FG skill? lol I have no idea why you think this is some sort of justification (or even relevant in any reasonable way) for him being the best. Regarding who the best is, who cares? No one dominates across the board on games. The major games usually have different players as the recognized top player(s).
Compare shootingDs performance against USA players who weren’t on Tomo’s level in USA vs Japan in 2000. ShootingD didn’t dominate the USA players which puts into question how good he could have been in the eariler games. Also just because someone’s been playing since WW doesn’t mean that they’re great players. Valle started in WW but didn’t start taking it seriously until the alha games. I started in WW and still suck. Though I do agree that there is no way to know for sure how tomo would have compared with players he hadn’t played against.
You discredit your claims when you don’t even name the player correctly. Its Kuni.
pretty sure its kinu faduna
Daigo … although Tokido has the potential to overtake him.
Take Otochun’s or Gian’s % of vitories in ST tournaments, or Daigo’s when he was in his prime. I won’t even mention the SF4 series as it has those stupid comeback mechanics that make it much more random. Now compare it to someone who only lost 5 tournaments in his life, among hundreds of entries. When SF was a fever.
Dickride harder.
Tell me something, when was “Daigo’s time” when it came to GG?
Daigo played basketball once, so hes the best at that too. He also works in a nursery, that has something to do with doctors, so he cured cancer. Any other things that people hear that Daigo did once and was the best at becuase he’s Daigo?
