I’m reserving judgement until the games come out. Neither have me particularly excited, and I agree with Julian on liking the required jump/special to get past fireballs. As Seth Killian once said, Street Fighter is what it is still this day because of the fireball- an obstacle that you must deal with before getting to your opponent. If you can just blow through fireballs by using a bit of bar that all but totally replenishes when done correctly, then it isn’t the same game anymore.
I for one don’t WANT the same game over and over. ST is what it is, I want new shit.
I’m not referring to ST when I say Street Fighter. I think ST is a terrible broken POS, but still fun. I mean all the SF games in general. I’m down with new gameplay, but unless that dash-through-fireballs trick is only good for advancing and not cancellable into special moves, then I personally don’t like it, because it changes one of the biggest dynamics that defined SF until SF3:2nd impact (parry didn’t push you back).
Well you know that fireballs haven’t been useful since ST right? I’m probably missing something as I don’t know how saving works or whatever… I can’t stand to go in SF4 or HD remix or ANY forums about a game that’s not out. Everyone thinks they’re the master of knowledge about fucking theory fighter and it drives me so god damned mad I can’t even read about updates because I want to jump through my computer monitor and fucking curbstomp all the morons who start complaining immediately.
Just be glad that fireballs will be more useful than SF3.
They were useful in SF3, just not its reincarnations. Personally, I liked the system of SF3:NG, but the characters didn’t work very well and the supers worked strangely. Combos were challenging and fun, though.
