Inferno will be insane. I died twice so far on the last stage on hard difficulty. The ai partners die every 2 seconds out there!
Ok, I’m starting to think that last stage on Hard difficulty is literally IMPOSSIBLE (*edit–or not…I eventually beat it right after this post) unless you have a Rank 8 + a pesticide weapon. Here’s the deal:
-You have to go deep into about the middle of the damn map to start that final checkpoint-onslaught…so there’s no way to even stay safely on the outside perimeter taking potshots from a long way off, unless you’re Jet…and I doubt he could fly back to the edge of the city before dying either.
-When all Hell breaks loose, there’s the Gigantor edition Hector (who seems to have a quadrillion hit points to the quadrillionth power.) on one side of you, and at least 3 or 4 smaller Hectors running around on the other sides… you are completely surrounded by this chaos. On top of that, the mothership is in the sky at this point, and I’m not sure the player can do anything about the occasional cheapshot by the mothership itself…it WILL hit you at random times. The best you can do is randomly put up the energy shield if you happen to be the Battle Armor guy and hope that you guessed correctly about when it’s going to take a shot at you. Keep in mind, the thousands of goddamn Hector robots are constantly running around attacking you at the same time. Oh yeah, and Gigantor over there has a laser, a spray-shot laser, he can step on you, and he has the ground bash similar to Battle’s on Blast Wave that will hit everything around him. Of course this is guaranteed death for your worthless AI companions…they’ll die to that blast, or they will die to your own Blast Wave if you tried doing that out of desperation simply for the invincibility frames. Oh, and keep in mind that even if you do kill Gigantor…there’s another 1 or 2 of them that show up right after that + the smaller Hectors…plus metal WASPS.
-After your cpu-controlled buddies meet guaranteed death on multiple occasions…of course you’re going to die as well if you stop and try to pick them up…this is a no-win situation. Stopping to pick them up means everything will blast you to death in like 2 seconds, either during or right after the “pick-up” process. If you DON’T try to pick them up, obviously you’re now alone…so your death means instant game over.
-Obviously, Battle Armor guy cannot run away, and there is no safe spot unless you count the buildings that are still standing…yeah, it’s safe to run around a corner for the approximate 4 whole seconds before it’s reduced to rubble too. Battle’s Energy shield? Heh, Nigga Please™. Even the smaller Hector robots eat that shit for breakfast. They do the rapid-fire energy blast on you and that shield is toast in about 2 seconds or less…do the Blast Wave for the invincibility frames and you’ve just killed your cpu partners if they weren’t already dead.
Of course, random fagbitchdouche-swallowin’ ass muthafuckas on gamefaqs would like to pretend like they can beat shit like this blindfolded with 1 arm tied behind their back while contemplating the meaning of life…of course. (*as if one couldn’t tell from the tone… I’d seriously love to punch someone like that repeatedly.)
This last time… I noticed both cpu partners died (oh what a surprising turn of events)… I ran over to revive “Kid”, then I got destroyed by lasers less than a second later, of course. How 'bout this asshole runs off to fight the giant robots!? I was laying over there in a crumpled heap where he was just a second ago, and he runs off to fight… THEN runs over to save the other dude…then they start shooting at the robots again, not even looking in my direction…and oh what a goddamn surprise again…THEY DIED. I don’t see how people are beating this shit, unless they’re going in with a Rank 8 + Pesticide and whatever else is the most gamebreaking shit ever.
**edit----**ahaaaaa! But scratch allllll that… one more try and VICTORY is mine! Hell yeah. Why did I not think of it before?! I was wasting my time earlier with an assault rifle in my other weapon slot… I simply doubled up on the heavy artillery this time… a Tier 7 Missile launcher doing 2086 per shot with homing capability + my other heavy hitter, the rocket that does 2587 or so with the obscene amount of splash damage…and I just steamrolled those alien chumps. Wasps are suddenly not a big deal when you have a homing missile launcher doing that kind of damage.
…but now the long road of INFERNO begins…will our hero survive?! Tune in next time, folks…
