to inverse: i’ve been beating all the guile’s in my area with haoh for a while now. although i’ve never played a truly nasty guile. the only problem is when guile starts turtling. then things get a little thick.
From personal experience as a former Guile player:
Bison for certain, he is the sole reason why I gave up Guile (and Vice). At Evo last year, when John Choi picked Guile against me, I purposely put Bison first to see how he would deal with it simply because I have no idea and I wanted to learn something…I ended up slaughtering his Guile. There’s no easy way Guile can anti air Bison or not get guard crushed, or keep him away. This is also true for Vega and Rolento (who are very good counters), but Bison deals a lot more damage a lot more quickly.
I think that’s about it. Sagat vs Guile I think is either fairly even or slightly in favor of Guile. Guile has a VERY easy time dizzying an aggressive Sagat with counter hit backhands and anti air crouch fierces, but Sagat does more damage in general.
I also think C-Cammy gets raped by Guile. A good Guile WANTS Cammy to cannon drill. Either Guile will stuff it with towards rh, sobat kick -> c. foward -> super, or even block and sonic hurricane. Guile also rapes Cammy’s ground game and KILLS Cammy’s air game.
Guile rapes C-Chun because of one stupid poke called standing foward. It destroys all of Chun-li’s cross overs. What if she doesn’t cross over? Crouching Fierce then.
Personally, I have never had Guile versus Haohamaru or Nakoruru, but I cannot foresee how they can be good matchups.
Haohamaru’s pokes are too slow. Although he does have good pokes, I see no answer to RC sonic boom, or how the hell Haohamaru is going to escape a long Guile block string.
Nakoruru is better, but she doesn’t do damage. Guile can make like, one billion mistakes against Nak, and Nak only has to make 2, and it will still be roughly even. So simply, I do not see it.
My two cents.
I think Nako sucks.
Her best ground move is her sweep, and Guile’s sobat and far s.HK beat that move clean. Nako HAS to jump if she wants to win this match. With Guile I can just sit there and wait to d.HP her.
It’s the same reason she dies to Geese and the Shotos.
I admit my Guile’s not very good yet (I die to people who go all out agressive and jump crazy on me), but I really don’t see Nako being a direct counter at a high level. I wouldn’t waste my time. Learn to properly use Vega or Blanka instead.
