Which Ultra Is Looking Better?

I figure Raging Slash to be the superior Ultra. I still have to work on getting it consistently instead of an EX Condor Spire, but the instances for its use seem to be great. It seems to hit better than the standard Tomahawk Buster and the natural invincibility it carries makes sure you get it rather than trading like you might for TB.

U2 for me. It adds another element to his mix-up game.

Organous - consistently off condor spire? Its uncombable. Youll never hit it.

I know it can’t be part of a combo. I meant consistently performing it when I want to. I can do it just fine in training, it’s just doing it under the pressure of a real match that’s the issue.

Truth.

Truth.

U2 if you expect any jumps.
U1 if you want insane damage of ticks, punishes and crumple.

Personally, I find myself using U2 more often.

ultra 2 I’ve some decent results with it. With hawks knack for dealing damage and the good poke of St.RH I catch a few people trying to jump in. Also found some short dive fakes people jump back trying avoid it.

Has anyone tried to see if raging slash will connect after an AA spire?

Very good call. I found myself loving U1 at first (it is really good, and more consistent than U2 overall), but against really good players the mixup option is huge. U1, though extremely damaging, is avoided the same way as his other command throws. U2, on the other hand, gives you a great option to punish your opponent for attempting to escape. (Worst-case, it can also be used as an oddball escape on occasion.) It’s very early, and I’m still learning exactly what you can beat in the air with U2 as far as attempting it against some off-the-ground specials, but for now I’m sticking with U2.

I don’t know exactly what I tested, but everything I could think of came up with T. Hawk unable to combo into the Raging Slash. His juggle potential is really low.

i havent been able to find anything either. Tried spire into u2 on dans jump taunt with no luck.

U1(raging typhoon)obviously

U2(Raging slash) is pure crap in my honest opinion
sure it may work in some instances but overall it’s garbage
it’s way easier to connect raging typhoon and the damage on that is wicked awesome!

Out of the 50 (or so) games i’ve played. A situation where I could use U2 came up maybe 10 times. (IE the person was jumping a lot.) But U1 I manage to hit atleast once in every match.

Then again I’m a gief player. So mashing out a 720 isn’t that big of a deal to me.

Also, is it just me, or does his U1 has quite a bit of range compared to just a normal grab?

i never find myself using too many EX moves so i always have super (everybody seems to build meter like crazy now). My thinking is that a hawk with super and U2 is potentially the most frightening situation in the game right now for many characters. Damned if you jump, damned if you attack. though i can say that the ex spire whiff through a fireball, buffer 720 for U1 is pure awesome and a ridiculous punish. if you shut down your opponents ground game enough with st.RH and st.MP they will jump, either away from your spd or at you for a jump in and that means free U2 for you.

against balrog, dudley, sim, gief, blanka, and probably makoto U1 for sure.

For me, it’s player specific. If I’m fighting someone whom I know has a tendency to jumping a lot, U2 is a God-send. But against certain players that I fight regularly who like to stay grounded most of the time, it’s definitely U1.

If I had to pick, I would say that I find myself using (And landing) U2 a lot more than U1. And like the poster above me said, I almost always have a ton of EX to spare. The Super itself is already like a mini-U1, and the Typhoons themselves are like mini-Supers. I too love the fact that I can have an anti-air Ultra, and ALSO have a game-ending Super ready in my arsenal.

Over all U1 is better, but U2 is better in some match ups. If my opponent is Vega, Bison, or Ibuki I’m U2. U2 also wiffs A LOT. If the opponent is too low it goes right through them or sometimes just doesn’t reach high enough. The small range of space that it works in is just too small. I really wanted to like U2, but U1 is just so much better.

I know it’s still early, but having meter for U2 keeps people honest about jumping in. More than I think his TH. It’s too early to make these statements; I haven’t had too many jump-ins I COULDN’T punish. I mean, it whiffs, but it’s oh so satisfying to land.

I choose U2

i prefer having a ultra i know I’ll use
U2 is just too dependent on your opponent being airborne
and what if it whiffs?
then you just wasted your ultra meter for nothing…

with U1 you just need your opponent to be grounded and close enough to grab them
so you don’t have to worry about wasting it

Ultra 1 whiffs as well. So you just wasted your ultra meter for nothing.

Honestly I think they are both good. U1 for the more guaranteed damage and U2 for the fact that it keeps them grounded, which is where hawks normals own faces. Personally I’m having more luck with U2 and super. I love flowchart shotos, they do wakeup srk, and get an U2 for their trouble. Hmm I’m gonna test some stuff. I bet it catches all kinds of DP-ish moves.

I don’t know, if you are hitting those 720’s consistently then I would go with that as it’s more damage. But I tend to like how U2 keeps people locked down.

Anti-Air ultra’s just tend to be more of a pain then helpful
because there’s a greater chance of it whiffing then any other ultra
imagine it your so close to victory and all you need is one good ultra
and yours is a anti-air
but your opponent isn’t budging nor is he going to take to the skies

if they do then they’re just asking for it and deserve to get Faceplanted into the ground
