What are you really looking for? I can think of 3 way better games that, altogether, would still cost a lil less than TTT2 or P4A (60$). All depends on how popular you need your purchase to be.
I really have to disagree with the tier gaps because people with mr wright, hsien-ko and other lowtiers can do well online they just need to put the effort in
lolonline.
That post has nothing to do with the gap in tiers. Just because someone can “put work in” doesn’t mean that makes them play a characters that’s not ass. The difference between Zero and Arthur is extremely large while in other games the difference is small or negligible.
If you have no local scene or people IRL to play against, you will be very disappointed with UMVC3, unless you only want to be a lab monster.
P4A and TTT2 have good playable netcode and are quite popular at the moment - pick one of these. They are different games, so depends on you.
And you’ll definitely need to move out of the southwest if you want to take fighting games seriously. I live in Devon and I know what you mean. I have seen maybe one local at Exeter Uni though. Also check out Neoempire.com. Bristol is the closest hub.

I main arthur actually and to be honest most zero’s aren’t that hard
also he’s just starting the game and said he’ll play online (but some have made character’s that are “ass” do well in tourneys) plus at least you can pick more than 6 characters and win (looking at you mvc2)
If you don’t like Tekken 5/6 as fighting games, then you will not like Tag 2.
It plays very much like Tekken 6. But since the home version of T6 was so horrid, a Tekken with great netcode is a refreshing experience for me.
Plus Tekken Tag 1 came out like TEN years ago. So Tag 2 is a big deal for Tekken players b/c of all the new characters introduced thru the years.
If you plan to play online, TTT2 or P4A. P4 happens to be my fighting game ever, but I am very into TTT2 also.
game isn’t that unbalanced since it’s a team game. You always have that option to optimize a team for that character. Not to mention every character might not have equal options, but there are still nice little cheap fundamentals most characters can abuse like 1f grabs and xfc.
I’d suggest that too. At least you’ll know that you lose because of your gameplay rather than frame traps and priorities.
But this will really mess up your SFIV gameplay, so I wouldnt recommend returning to it afterwards. If you play SFIV you have to be autistic regarding other FG in order to succeed. SFIV requires a totally different mindset.
Get both P4A and TTT2. 
P4A will do you some great justice.

I wasn’t implying that. I don’t think it’s possible to balance a game with all the mechanics present, 50 characters, 59004324009 assists, and 23490213540149090 team combinations. I mean, obviously they could have done a better job, but the balance isn’t so bad to a point where I wouldn’t reccomend the game for that very reason.
I have both P4A and UMvC3 and I think both are worth getting.

Now I have p4a, which is in the mail currently, but i played it at gamestop and instantly loved it, but am holding judgment until I have my own copy.
Just try to borrow the games or rent them and see what you like. You may even end up like me and not be happy with your choice and go back to ae.
Get a membership in one of the many companies that let you rent games and rent all three before you buy, or at least find a used copy of UMvC3 ($20-30) and wait to see if anyone is still playing TTT2&P4A 6 months from now. People in the Detroit area are already selling their copies of P4A for $40, so if you don’t have the cash but like the games buy them off someone who is suffering from buyers remorse. But before you start playing UMvC3 online be sure you have the lowest lag monitor u can get your hands on. With online lag, if your monitor is lagging you will always be way behind what is happening on screen and with how fast Marval moves that is an unplayable nightmare.

Anyway do what I did.
- Play marvel for 3 months
- Get pissed off and leave it on a busy street
- Think about rebuying it a few months later
- Buy Persona and Tekken tag then realize you dont actually want marvel back
- Profit
