Where's the cheese

My prayers are with you, your family, & your father.

Thank you for showing me the true meaning of “heart of a champion.”

Can you record that in mp3? I want to practice daily and pretend it’s Mr. Miyagi talking to me.
Edit: This really does scream to be made into a movie.

wow, this was one hell of a read.

Congratulations on your victories, and thank you for sharing such a inspirational story.

That means that if Cell comes to destroy the planet, there is only one man left to call.

Choi. John Choi.

John Choi is the fuckin’ man. Makes me proud to be Korean

Thank you so much for… everything. Winning ST, winning CVS2, sharing this story, and nailing me with a reversal dragon punch every single time I tried to SPD you in our casual match.

I need to work on my own cheese and make it worthy. Need to earn that cheddar.

Ceremony means nothing to him. The fight is all.

KOREA! KOREA! But in seriousness, congratulations on evo and for having the heart to continue on. This is a very inspirational read since it has gotten me to post. Hope you do more the community. You are one of the best John Choi.

YaWoooOOOOOOOOOOO

Man, your dad wanted you to go to EVO and you fucking come back with TWO fucking championships. I hope your dad is fucking proud of you lol. Must have been nice after his surgery to hear something like that. Man when CvS2 finished that shit was electric. Buk ran on stage and was jumpin around and choi was huggin bas and EVERYONE WAS SCREAMING IT WAS total hype. Man that was fun.

yeah im going to echo the sentiment that this needs to be made into a movie - or better yet a documentary: bang the machine 2

Legendary performance at Evo

I want to know the count of how many tiger shots Choi threw during the finals. It was entertaining and a well deserved win. Those finals were worth the trip itself.

Choi’s performance was worth the trip also

Best of luck to your family

great words and great performance at Evo.

the best of luck to your family.

congratulations Choi You truly are the King Of ST Best wishes to the family and thanks for the motivated words really helped out

What an incredibly inspirational and touching story. Awesome performance at evo and best of luck to you and your family.

John Choi…one of the few players I’ve looked up to at Evo in the past 5 years I’ve been watching it. This was my first actually attendance to Evo and it was a great expirence. I’m a Tekken player myself more than anything else and play very little CvS2 on the side, but watching you in action live than on a dvd is more fulfilling. Your exicution is flawless, focus is unmoving, and you have the will and drive of your father. This story makes me respect you as a player and more as a person that much more.

Under unmesurable odds and tremendus stress you still overcame. Must run in the family

Here’s wishing you and your family good times and good health.

Choi: that was a great read. It takes courage to be open to a bunch of random people. Your story really hits home with me. As my family is going thru some serious medical woes as well, concerning my parents, especially in the past month or so. So I can definitely feel you on your feelings. I almost didn’t go to evo as well.

Your dad sounds like a fighter, just like my father. Who has gone thru some pretty insane things in the past. At 2 different times, he was told by doctors that he would have less than a year to live. The last time he was told that, was about 7 years ago.

We all believed he was a fighter and he’s always beaten the seemingly impossible odds. I feel the same with your situation, brother! It sounds like he is already beating the odds. Stay positive and keep giving you father the love and support he needs to stay strong, and everything will definitely work out, in the end!

You really are an inspiration to me, to go thru similar things as I have and then go to something like EVO, merely days later, to emerge as a champion, in 2 titles, against the prolific japanese. That just makes your victories even more impressive and makes me respect you even more, as not only an incredible player, but as a genuine person, as well.

Knowing all this just makes your victories have so much more meaning. And that just puts a big smile on mine, and hopefully yours and your family’s, face.

I wish you and your family the best of luck!!

You deserve the highest respect. That’s a moving story, and believe it or not you reading this helped me and it’s something I’ll always try to remember. I’m young but I’ve already seen too people not pulling it through, both in my family and outside. I still kept fighting but deep inside me sometimes I was wondering if it was really worth it.
So, even if we never met or talked to each other, and god knows if we’ll ever get to, from my far country I cheer on you and I thank you.

That was actually a good read (probably not the best wording ever, but couldn’t think of any other way to put it). I’ve got a lot of respect for you as a player, and if this makes sense, I respect you a bit more now after seeing you post something that personal.
