Where should an newer player put focus on training?

Well, I suggest a simple combo and the use of the shortcuts (engine).

e.g. hold down forward > cr.lp > when your cr.lp comes out > go back to down and immediately down forward again > press light kick

Sounds a bit weird, basically you just hold (buffering) the first input for your DP already and than you press punch … and the only thing you need to do now is just do a short motion (down, downforward) and press kick … and you will cancel cr.lp into Rising Jaguar … NOTE … You don’t need the forward input for the DP … the engine sees a down forward also as a forward input (short cut).

So … if you reliable can cancel the cr.lp x RJ … than you just add another cr.lp in before.

Just practice 2-3 cr.lp up close … think about a 1/3 rhythm … it is just like 1 … 2 … 3 … it is not very fast … and due to that you cant chain Adons lights … everything is a link … so just practice the both things … and if you got the hang of both … just put it together …

The light combo is a rhythm and the cancel needs to be done fast (because you cancel the cr.lp) … so it is something like this 1 … 2 … 3-cancel

Trust me … it is very easy if you once has that rhythm …

Cheers

which method do you find more useful for which situations?

The [up-qbc] i use it to get past fireballs and the [qbc-up] when im doing a block string or after a jump in attack to get those crouch techs. That’s just the basics to me.

Now, when i’m playing footsies or pressuring him the ratio mostly is [qbc-up] 80% and [up-qbc] 20%. Since the [qbc-up] has that little movement before the iajk comes out, the opponent can predict when it’ll come out and punish it, that’s why you bait him by just doing qbc light punch(or nothing) for the feint. He makes a bad read and then YOU punish him.

This is could be another post to talk about the IAJK, to post their ratio in the 2 method usage and strategy.
