as far as i know the money made from the dvds goes to game sakura.
if they (kuroda or sakura) ask that you not post them online, then whats so hard to understand?
also 3 dollars per dvd (like 2-3 hours each one) is definitely worth it. so please dont act like hes making a fortune off of people buying the dvds. Lets not forget the dvd case it comes in and the blank media cost money too.
well if he could just sell those online or on ebay or somewhere am sure more than enough people are willing to buy them legit.
if not, we’ll just have to get them some other way.
some one make it happen
well if he sold them online im sure one of the people posting in this thread would buy them and then just rip them. which im sure is the whole reason why they arent online in the first place.
that sounds like little to no profit for them, i’d say
would be cool if an intermediate party could take orders, collect funds, and then do a mass purchase and then distribute… seems like there are people willing to buy.
Me asking Sextaro Makoto about posting the Kuroda DVDs:
Fagneto96: those people? they’re idiots and it shouldn’t be posted
Fagneto96: kuroda even said himself that he would quit playing if they got distributed
Not to be a dick or anything, but if you want to watch the Kuroda DVDs, go to Japan and buy them. Like Ryan says, they barely make anything off of these DVDs. I bought 7 myself and the process of getting them was: you go up to the register at Game Sakura, ask for the DVDs you want, and the guy that works there, goes into the back and burns copies for you, makes the boxes and puts the cover on them. All that for work for about $3. It’s disrespectful to those who worked hard to make them and to those that went to Japan and bought them.
it shouldn’t be posted for free wide distribution. but there should be some way for people be able to pay inflated prices for them if they want to see them.
i’d gladly pay 100+ for a set.
too bad its not the kuroda vhs and ripping wouldn’t be such a ubiquitous threat.
Listen to the SF podcast by Gootecks featuring Victoly. Vic talks about learning how to punish whiffed moves (suchs as Ken’s low forward) with ducking super after watching the Dudley Kuroda DVD. If the best Dudley in America (hands down) learned something from these DVDs, they would obviously benefit the community. He also talks about how the Dudley DVD isn’t extremely impressive, but it shows rock solid defense and some interesting turtling from Kuroda. It shows that Dudley doesn’t necessarily need to be played super offensively, but can capitalize on the turtle game as well. I understand that Kuroda does have insane defense, and he is playing against many players who aren’t top players in Japan. But that doesn’t take away from the point that is made. This game is all about community, and unfortunately in the US (and everywhere except Japan) we are severely lacking. In Japan information spreads like wildfire and competition is everywhere. This is why everyone suggests watching as many videos as possible, and finding as much competition as possible. I myself live in ND. Who the plays 3s in ND? Unfortunately me and about 4-5 other guys. The only functional cabinet I know of in the entire state is in my apt. The closest tournaments are either in Winnipeg (need to buy a passport), or Minneapolis (4 to 4 1/2 hours away). This isn’t a story about me, it’s about isolation. Thanks to people like TheShend in the UK, we have access to tons of videos. He painstakingly uploads a shit ton of vids for all of us to have access to. Thanks to Gootecks, we have a podcast to spread information to anyone anywhere who’s willing to listen. We all try to add to the community some how, no matter how small the offering. We do this because of our isolation from the game/community (as a whole). I know I have gone off on a tangent, but what I am trying to say is that not having access to these DVDs is another form of isolation from the 3s community as a whole.
Everyone in the community is expected to go to Japan and buy them, but our SBO teams needed help from donations from the podcasts in order to go? I think the podcasts by Gootecks are one of the best things for the SF community as a whole in a long time, and I am glad the SBO teams were able to get help to go. I appreciate the work completely on both ends and do not disapprove one bit. But it is ironic that we are expected to go to Japan simply for the DVDs when I can’t afford to drive contiually to Minneapolis for any type of comp, or buy a passport and continually drive to Winnepeg. I need to start the ND SF podcast . All I think is that the DVDs should be sold to people in the US somehow. If all these players have been to Japan . . . and say we should go there to get the DVDs . . . and they say how hard they work to make them . . . and say how they don’t make any money off of them . . . why hasn’t anyone clued in Game Inn Sakura about the US demand?! We don’t want to be disrespectful by just throwing them up online, SO let’s have them make ADDITIONAL money (much more) by selling them online to people in the US (or anywhere in the world where people are interested)! If we are so worried about Kuroda quitting (due to uploading), let’s find a way to FUND his DVDs rather than upload them! This is a TOTAL win-win situation for the worldwide 3s community. Well there is the 2 cents of a ND 3s scrub . . . :wonder:
It’s not that deep. People want to see the vids and they are willing to pay for them. If they want to make the purchase of them reasonable and attainable then people should let it go. i doubt there is anything he’s doing on those DVD’s we haven’t seen from players on the various Japanese ranbats we’ve all been watching for years. But it is ridiculous to be angry at customers who are supplying demand while the seller is making it near impossible to get a hold of them.
So I gotta go to some remote arcade on the other side of the world to pickup a couple of DVD’s. I doubt Kuroda is sharing the sales with the plethora of players that are also on the DVDs. Never thought I would say this but let him quit then.
Yeah I’m fine with Kuroda quitting too. The 3rd Strike scene won’t fall into shambles if he quits. He’s really good at the game and that’s it. SBO has a hard enough time making money as it is and Kuroda not making money off his DVD’s won’t hurt anyone but himself. It’s virtually impossible to make a real profit off of these DVD’s. Some random ass 3S player who probably doesn’t even post on the forums is going to get them uploaded on YouTube and YouTube isn’t going to stop Kuroda DVD’s from being posted unless he works for CBS. Which he doesn’t. It’s more like a lose lose situation the way I see it. It’s just a matter of which loss is better overall for the community.
yes 300 yen per dvd. 16 dvd’s total (no chun, yang, urien). and there is no online store.
what a shame too, i was really looking forward to kuroda’s urien, which according to that ancient thread, is greater than RX’s.
wrong. just from his dudley dvd alone i’ve seen shit i’ve never seen other dudleys do.
one of the moves he abuses playing turtle dudley is s.strong duck super. he just stands there baiting his opponent in, and out of nowhere BAM he hits them. he uses it so much that he gives the illusion of dudley having an actual ranged game.
he also punishes the recovery on ken’s crossup ex hurricane kick with a well timed ex machine gun. i’ve never seen that before.
he red parries like a fiend; i’ve never seen another player red parry as consistently or as much as him. his opponents are actually scared to attack him.
so people please believe the hype. go to japan and buy it, or get someone to do it for you. no one in their right mind is going to upload 4.7 x 16 GB’s of footage, and especially after they took the trouble of going to japan for themselves.
