I started in 2011. Played on and off up to the present except 2014 when I didn’t play at all.
Something sort of clicked about 6 months ago where I started to flow from one action to the next a lot faster, and really tamed my urge to do punishable things or push a button when I don’t have frame advantage.
Its like a RPG, you reach certain levels and gain new understanding as you go along. My progress has slowed as I have focused more on being a TO and growing the Michigan scene. But it did feel good that on his last night in Detroit F3 alucarD soundly defeated me with Zero effort then complimented me on my spacing
I’ve been playing fighting games for almost as long as I can remember, lol. Getting bodied by my big bro in SF2 through the alpha series. Playing MK with my cousins and so fourth. I really didn’t start paying attention to the competitive scene though until a few months after SF4. That’s when I met my late friend Paul and his godlike Sagat, which pushed me to go even harder into the scene. The reason I’m becoming more competitive now is so I can keep the promise I made to him after his passing.
I’m not comfortable with fighting games as a whole, much less SF5, but have been comfortable in some of them from time to time. Basically it’s when I get to the point that whenever I take damage I know exactly what I did wrong, and I can do what I want when I want to.
