for me the blanka hate is because their best strategy involves laming the match out. i’m not hating on the strategy as i think it’s sound, but you can’t deny that the entire point of the character is to frustrate opponents into chasing in a unsafe manner and imo it’s not a fun match to play. then again i play rushdown so any character that forces me to slow down that much ends up being a frustratingly slow match.
I feel where Digital’s coming from. I just can’t stand these shoto scrubs that don’t take the time to learn the matchups properly and just try to J. HK, C. HK or cross up all day while you continously try to swat them out of the air.
In a normal, non or barely laggy match, it’s not so bad because it tends not to work too well for them. But in laggy matches where reaction times double (or more), it’s a pain in the ass because you tend to eat way too many of these attempts and the matches are close or you end up losing to nothing.
I’m usually satisfied when I lose to someone better (unless he gets a swelled head about it and starts taunting like a jackass… ), though I’m never happy when moves or combos I can pull off perfectly 100 times in training mode don’t come out during matches online.
Yeah, Rose definitely has to work a bit harder compared to most characters. I am glad she’s getting a few more effective offensive tools in Super.
This pretty much sums up how I feel. I personally don’t mind losing (just as long as my opponent can keep our session civil and not spam me with silly gloatmail messages which are non-productive and unsporting). It’s one of the reasons why I started adding more solid players like GeOM Mod/Semitry/Shizza to my friends list as they all have an exceptional understanding of the game and help push your potential further.
Online is naturally frustrating at times on account of laggy matches or G3-esque players don’t do anything for me. Then you have those who are practicing secondary characters and often treat the session as serious business and then zip to a Shoto/Sagat/Boxer to prove a point (why? It’s a Player Match after all right…?)
Everyone should aspire to learn from their losses… but this is often easier said than done
Why would somebody be satisfied with losing?
I’ll get really satisfied after losing when my opponent just completely beats the crap out of me repeatedly. Every round is another opportunity to tone down on mistakes, learn the match-up, and work on execution.
I rage when I see ryu/sagat/ken scrubs wasting my time. Seriously… Why do they even bother playing? LOLOL MASH TIGER UPPERCUT!
Cr.strong and J.fierce are both really good, what are you smoking.
cr.Strong is kind of an oddball only good for specific situation, I was talking about a go-to reliable Anti-air.
J.Fierce, pretty sure that would be considered air to air not anti-air. If you want to talk about in specifically in an anti-air it would be it ability to be used as a reactionary anti- air. So you see the other person jump and jump up after them and try to swat em down. It is decent at doing this but like cr.Strong it is a pretty situational choice, but then I guess having a few situational anti airs is better then having one anti-air special that doesnt work and cr.HP (my poor guile… at least he still has air throw…)
I dunno, I just don’t get the Blanka hate…his shinanigans aren’t that tricky, look at the either Akuma vortex or Sakura reset traps or really anything that a good Seth player can do… then again if we are talking about anger logic rarely enters anger’s territory so I guess I’ll just back off the topic, just feel bad for the green guy, I main Guile but I like playing as Blanka when I wanna mix things up.
As long as I was beaten and I didn’t lose just because I made bad decisions and handed the game to my opponent on a silver platter, I am satisfied.
Because even though you lost, the match might have been a good one, and that makes it fun to play. When both players play smart and use high level tactics, then the game looks and feels good.
I really hate playing against shoto scrubs with input delay. Under these circumstances, shoryuken spam becomes much safer to use, because you get more frames added to your punish attempt due to the input delay.
Thus, they get away with lots of stuff that normally would have resulted in a punish. In this kind of match I get pissed off because I know my skill is much higher, and they are giving me far more trouble than they should.
It beats all of the jumpins from certain characters. Like all of them. How is that situational really if it is your answer most of the time.
Are you saying because you can’t use it for most really deep jump ins, against crossups, and as a reversal it is situational? EX Upball can do all of those things, so it sort of covers the gap. They work in tandem.
EX upball also covers the “eat 600 damage on hit” part of antiairing.
Yeah maybe it feels good DURING the match. Because then it’s actually a real competition if you find someone with equal skill. And then it hurts even more i’d say. If you still feel good after losing to a worthy opponent u must be a masochist. Only going out of the match as a winner and with one’s head held high satisfies me.
Losing never satisfies me, but I can deal with it when I feel my opponent simply outplayed me. I cannot deal with it, when I get robbed of my victory by laughably shit game mechanics, which, unfortunately, more often than not is the case because this game is actually a big steaming pile of shit from a design point of view.
You should be satisfied whenever u lose to a Sim or Guile player. They’re the only 2 characters that don’t have lame/overpowered or trickery based moves and their playstyles rely on outplaying the opponent completely.
When you get smashed by someone who is clearly better than you. Give the guy a thumbs up and take your beating like a man.
I can relate to the Blanka beef. One of the main reasons is because I think he gets one of the larger advantages out of the characters with regards to lag.
I think one thing about him that’s so annoying is his fast jump. Online it can be difficult to react to his constant jumpins. Also electricity is annoying to get hit with since 90% of the time they’re just mashing the punch buttons while holding down back during any sort of block string you might be attempting.
Also empty roll into throw is one of the most annoying things to get hit by. Same with low fierce slide.
Also, I dunno if anyone else has noticed, but in my experience whenever I DO play Blanka it’s usually after I risk playing a two bar or even one bar connection, and the blanka just taking advantage of difficulty dealing with rolls jumps and electricity during lag.
Don’t get me wrong I have played some great blankas with good connections and it can actually be a really fun matchup, but let’s face it, good blankas with good connections online are under-represented. Most likely because playing against Blanka it’s so annoying that it turns off potential Blanka users from picking him up.
Not at all. If the winning blow is particularly clever I will often feel impressed. It all matters on the opponent. If the opponent is an arrogant or flaming git, then I won’t be satisfied. However, if the opponent has a attitude of good sportsmanship and is a person I enjoy talking to then it bothers me little as long as gameplay is well and not scrubby/lag-related etc.
Of course, in a tournament setting this is different because there is an actual point in winning, but not in casual matches.
If I don’t lose because of lag or a massive execution failure.
Luckily, OP was still playing Halo back when these games actually had crazy good top characters.
As long as the person is respectable while beating me, I dont care too much if I lose. None of this lag tatics or rude ass taunts and mean messages after the match, show some respect to others for the love of God.
When the other person didn’t use Sagat or Ryu
