I know it’s they’re a stretch but Battle Fantasia and Brawl play like 3s. Battle Fantasia has everything 3s has except that parry has noticeable recovery and there aren’t any unblockables. Smash Bros Brawl has…something. I can’t even put my finger on it, but I use my same 3s mentality for it.
You can use 3s in SF4 but it stops after a few matches because of the pace of the whole thing. It never builds up the way it does in 3s. I think the developers focused on limiting the player too much and didn’t think to balance each normal.
really I just want to play a bunch against people that love the game and learn things in the process. I don’t like online so much, but offline most things are positive. I’d love to visit So Cal some time soon (or make it out to Evo) but money is an issue for now. I don’t think it will be in a year but for now theres student loans to finish paying off.

Nothing of the sort, I was very tired when I posted that, still am, but anyway you look at it, having an igloo station for 3S in a cold environment sounds awesome, I obviously meant inside his igloo profile picture. It probably wouldn’t be great, playability wise, what with frostbite existing and all, but still…

we were thinking about that earlier. if we get a bunch of people where will everyone sit? my apartment is small and we have one couch. the possibility of playing outdoor 3s has definitely been suggested. you probably don’t even need fingerless gloves.

it was but its hard to say now. the guys that made WC 3s (really LA 3s) a powerhouse are all retired. the best active socal 3s player doesn’t even live here anymore
Agreed about SF4 being a social networking phenomenon.
It is also what destroyed the FGC’s competitive drive, and it ruined the legitimacy of tournament play in one fell swoop.
Also, scrubs also gained the power to dictate the direction of the competitive scene, from it’s previous “in with the good, out with the bad” to the now illogical, consumer minded 98IQ “in with the new, out with the old”.
The reason why the majority of players don’t play 3s, CvS2, MvC2 or ST anymore, even though those games are far better for competition and are more valid for tournament play, is because the majority are simple minded scrubs who cannot grasp how to play and do not want to invest time and effort into learning games that have established players who are miles ahead of where they will ever be.
Majority = money, and tournament organizers = money loving.
Scrubs don’t understand true competition. They don’t understand that tournaments are for the highest level of player, and as such, the games I listed above are best suited for tournament play.
They will defend their garbage games, and pretend that the basic fundamentals of SF4 like Revenge gauge, FADC, plinking, vortexes, unblockable free crossups, and ambiguous crossups (might as well be classified as luckblockables), not to mention the braindead OS system, make the game’s skill gaps closer than any SF game has ever experienced.
Let’s not even get into MvC3, because that game is a pile and it is probably the worst thing to happen to competition in the history of the earth.
I call the new generation of players, “super friends”. They look down on true competition and dominance. Everyone wants to be “equal” with each other, and they all want respect that they don’t deserve as scrubs and one game wonders (called “game specialists” now to hide the fact that they are scrubs).
Honestly, players in the spotlight today really don’t deserve to be there. They have mastered the dumbest, braindead games that shouldn’t be played at competitive levels, and quite honestly, should have been left behind just like how we left Capcom Fighting Jam and SvC Chaos behind.
But those games didn’t bring in millions of new players, who carried in with them millions of dollars to donate to tournament organizers.
What a wreck the FGC has become. Super friends aka scrubs and Super Scrub Friendly 4 + UMvC3 have ruined the current FGC. Support 3s, CvS2, ST and MvC2, and mock those who play SF4 and UMvC3.
I don’t see the point in shitting on other games. for every time someone complains about braindead option selects, they can complain about “parry doesn’t even have a whiff animation, just OS parry everything!” or “Chun shits on the entire cast!” you can find a reason to hate any game.
I don’t like SF4 or SFxT or Marvel 3 much. but it’s not like arguing with people is going to make them play games I like so oh well.
If they say “OS parry everything”, then they really are the dumbest person, and they only expose themselves.
Telling the truth hurts feelings and brings out the liars. That shouldn’t stop us from telling the truth.
Notice how nobody ever tries to defend MvC3 vs MvC2? They just focus on one invalid point against, say 3s, that is from a scrub perspective, and then they make themselves feel better and continue to play MvC3 like the 98IQ scrub they are.
People hate the truth, but we should continue to tell them it no matter how they “feel” about it. Emotions are not more valuable than truth.
Totally agree with your post capstone. Just not the mocking part. I think we should just spend that time and effort playing 3rd Strike 
Fools need to be told that they are fools, otherwise they will never realize it. The emotional validation they get from like minded scrubs is too pleasing to them, and restricts their ability to be objective and logical. If we don’t tell them they are wrong and mock their follies, they will never have a reason to challenge their beliefs.

3s players never waste their time going in other people’s forums to do that. Let them waste their time with “lol SBO results” or whatever when they do that here, there, everywhere still mad about this game.
