I got a degree in mechanical engineering, got bodied by crazy lady
BS in Interactive Media Design.
Thought about pursuing a Masters, but in this field a portfolio is much more valuable - so as long as I keep a good, updated portfolio w/ awesome work I’m able to save a ton of time and money.
I don’t quite have it I still have a semester to go but I will have my associates of arts (general studies) in December. Then I am going to University of Texas at Arlington to get my Bachelors of Science with secondary Teaching Certification. I have been trying to see what I can do with a biology major outside of teaching so if anyone has advice I am all ears. Was considering maybe later getting my masters in something like audiology or maybe in Physical Therapy
I know that if you’re a dentist in Eastern Europe, you’re worth about $9 per hour in America.

BA Anthropology, Minor in Comp Sci
Shit, I wish I would’ve gotten a minor in mathematics or computer science. I had finished a shitload of credits before I switched majors, but I just couldn’t take the classes anymore. Sad part is, now I can’t do math for shit. I went up to differential calculus in college–I struggled, but I still made it. Now, if you throw algebra at me I sweat harder than Patrick Ewing in the fourth quarter.
Nice thread Raz0r, but would it kill folks to acknowledge that Trade schools/ vocational training is a thing?
I have a A&P certification from the Aviation Institute Of Maintenance in Atlanta GA and Airmen license from the FAA. I work as a Aircraft Maintenance technician. Would like to go back to school and further my education though.
Also it’d be cool if ya could also mention what kind of work ya get with your degrees. Give some insight to those aspiring to get into that field, what kind of jobs they can look into. A degree ain’t shit if it can’t get you a career to pay the bills and live decent.
There are way too many certs that exist for me to add them. I’ll admit I over looked vocational/tech schools but whatever, SORRY.
If anyone asks I’ll give them my experience in journalism and in marketing.
I know I’m stating the obvious, but higher education isn’t really a good metric for how smart someone is. I was at a bar for trivia night a few years back with a buddy, and the question was, “How many miles away is the moon?”
Dude said 10 miles, and was serious. Motherfucker has two Master’s degrees. I laughed so fucking hard at him. Still give him shit about it today. 10 miles.
Depends on the university, really. Still, higher education does show that you have higher learning and can complete a goal. I wouldn’t advise people to skip it either way because even secretary jobs are asking for college degrees.
Master’s is nice… until you look at the time sink and money. Fuuuuuuck thaaaat
about to get that B.S in Chemical Engineering, and gonna get bodied by the lack of Chemical Engineering jobs in socal.
Is it pretty dry? I kinda already know the answer but I’m curious what your take is.
High school dropout homie.
What do you do for work?
Where is technical diploma?
I noticed there’s a lot of Comp Sci majors here, I just had a friend graduate and moved to some place where he’s now making pretty good $$$.
I was on that train too a while back, but I couldn’t stomach it anymore. For most people, the math is what bothers them the most, but for me it was the debugging yawnfest. After doing some classes I decided quickly that this was not what I wanted to do in life. Class after class of heavy coding and I just wasn’t passionate at all about it, and my biggest regret was taking all that math for nothing. The math is just to weed people out, only Linear Algebra and higher probability statistics seems useful in Comp Sci. I hear some people say Calc 3, but I still don’t see it. BS Comp Sci looks stronger on paper, but it’s not uncommon for people with IT certs or MIS degrees to land quality work. Lots of people look down on those options because of the demand for a Comp Sci degree, but it’s just option and damn good one if things go right.
Mr Big shot Bachelors in Journalism/communications, couldn’t be bothered to remember us lowly skilled trade guys.
BFA in graphic design
