Mildly amusing episode, but served no purpose other then to have entertaining fight scenes. Like maybe im having selective memory, but i dont recall such shallow episodes in past seasons that involved serioius topics. Like the mlk episode was legit, because while funny, it reflected how much we have strayed from the morals, ideals, integrity, etc… that mlk stood for, and preached about. It also took time to poke jabs at spike lee for being mad he couldnt do mlk’s movie, mlk getting shunned for saying love thy enemy when discussing 911, and various other aspects of black pop culture, ending with mlk verbally beasting on black folks, and saying fuck it, im moving to canada. lol. What the fuck was this episode about, am i suppose to laugh at the Freedom Riders? Is that shit suppose to be funny, that they got beaten and attacked for simply being black? Is it suppose to be funny that “Freeman” acts like an uncle tom the whole episode.
While the super brotha was an awesome creation for the episode, it simply had no direction, and relied too heavily on racial slur jokes, and nothing else. AGAIN, WHAT WAS I SUPPOSE TO TAKE FROM THE EPISODE!? lol. It was poor writing again. I’m sad that some of you find this episode to have been decent, or that any of this has been good so far. The last 2 episodes were better, and that doesnt say much, with riley’s performance in the breaking bad episode being the most memorable of everything the past 3 weeks.
The episode would have been funnier if, while still about the same thing, it addressed the irrational reasonings for peoples hatred towards black people. There could have been tons of jokes to be had, ending the episode on that note of, “yeah, why the fuck do we hate yall. You didnt do anything to me, we enslaved you”. All we got was an episode that made fun of the courage of the “Freedom Riders”, made fun of “negro spiritual songs”, downplayed pacifism rather then showing how wrong freeman was to actually want to fight back physically against that oppression, and took the opportunity to say as much racist shit as possible, because, when you have no imagination, just overuse the simplest form of comedy for that episode, which is constantly saying racial slurs. It was like an episode written by racist white people almost.
Fuck what some of yall say of your history and love for boondocks, cause there is a lot of cosigning hella mediocre work this season, and its impossible for me right now to see where your faith is coming from. The fucking episode just ended with them in jail listening to super brotha sing his songs. lol. So terrible.
3 seasons of prior work, countless strips of the comic, all the free access to information via the internet (including jokes), and this is what we get after all these years. SMDH.
Ugh, im annoyed because boondocks was a show that painted a certain type of picture, that while funny at times, was still very educational, and on its more chill and funnier episodes that were light on the message, it introduced those outside of the culture to our lingo, “swagger”, way of thinking, etc… This shit so far is just some shit for the simple minded.** I’m ashamed this show is on the air right now.**
New season is like watching a stream of shitty worldstarhiphop videos, not just the ignorant ones, but the bady comedy skits posted on their too. lol
I liked episodes 3 and 4, but this one was kinda meh. Had some funny lines but no real point/message involved at all. It just felt…empty, if that makes sense.
