Just because actual KOF players have proved you wrong, especially when it comes to the gameplay, doesn’t mean you get to bring your stuff to other threads.
What if I told you, that the new system allows you to use every move of your character as an assist.
Also, “removing moves” isn’t a valid argument, not when impressions from E3 and CEO show that characters have actually gained moves.
It depends on what you were asking… and we usually did in many stuff especially artstyle that’s why we keep on seeing nostalgic costumes and rehash of WW-ST usually.
In denial?! At least Capcom fans are man enough to admit their company failed multiple times. I got to give it up for Xiaohai for stepping up. Like Fchamp, he said in an interview (you can look it up) XIV sucks.
Unless someone comes with hard facts, everything said for MvCI applies to KOFXIV. My previous points still valid and no one here has debunked or proved me wrong on anything. Just looking for excuses.
Don’t get it twisted, SNK is a half century old company ruined by their own marketing mishandling… twice. They’re just like any other company so why the special treatment? They sold out to a major Chinese company now so I suppose they’re good.
Wrong! Capcom is going through serious issues too. They are as desperate for money as SNK was. In 2013 Capcom had only $152M left https://www.google.com/search?q=capcom+152+million+usd. They have 41,122 million yen in debt (March 2017) http://www.capcom.co.jp/ir/english/data/pdf/result/2016/full/result_2016_full_01.pdf and It has been growing since 2015 (27,982 million yen http://www.capcom.co.jp/ir/english/data/pdf/result/2014/2nd/result_2014_2nd_01.pdf) while their net income keeps falling.
For every title that does well, they have two failing titles. They are clearly struggling and it explains why they desperately force DLC content on their consumers. They’re pretty much in the same hole and there is no way you could say they’re okay. If they weren’t, then why would they be dependent on Sony or Microsoft just to fund the development of new titles?
I don’t play their games and I genuinely don’t care about where they end up being in the market. I’m not here to defend corporate greed but I had to address this cause people like to make comparisons while the post I made only expresses my distress at the KOF scene and lists some similar issues I found annoying about KOFXIV.
Companies like Sony, Microsoft, Activision, EA, and Capcom all have learned some way or another to listen to their fans because everyone, except SNK fans, stand up against anti-consumer acts and scams.
OMD looks like you don’t know anything about SNK’s current state.
I refuse to accept bankruptcy as an excuse. Fans have pounced on fragile SNK during the days of KOF2003, SVC, KOF94rebout, and KOFXII, so why not for KOFXIV when the company now is in a much better position than it was 7 or 9 years ago? Don’t act like you forgot when you complained day and night about Kyo until they gave you classic Kyo.
If they’re going to change their corporate name back to SNK and have the slogan “The future is now" to signify their return, then I expect no excuses. And like said before:
It’s more than a decade past their bankruptcy and it’s not like they had disappeared from the market or something. They were still coming up with “so so” titles.
Around the year 2003 SNK Playmore, founded by Kawasaki himself, had all of SNK’s intellectual rights before acquiring BrezzaSoft, Noise Factory, Sun Amusement, and ADK. The new company went gathering many of its former SNK developers and by the end of 2003 the company pretty much resembled the original SNK. In 2004 SNK Playmore sued a company for copyright infringement and received 5.64 billion yen, that’s a lot of money if you ask me. In the following few years SNK Playmore placed its attention on new markets (pachinko and mobile) all the while maintaining good presence in arcades with Atomiswave and Taito’s Type X platforms. It also released a number of consumer games worldwide such as a surprising adult game for Nintendo DS (the 1st for any handheld console btw). And by the year 2010 KOFXIII came along wowing everyone with its pixel art and either winning Game of the Year or getting nominated for it.
Now check this out “Multi-billion dollar Chinese company primarily specialized in chicken farming buys majority stake in Japanese game developer SNK Playmore”:
Normally after each arc it’s a Dream Match but seeing how Chinese fans kept complaining about Psycho Soldiers not being Chinese enough, SNK had no choice but to comply with its new owner.
If SNK not having money was the case, then why would they invest on writing a plot? Wouldn’t it be more suitable to follow tradition and just make a Dream Match? with which they’d be able to put any characters they want without limiting themselves to design/time constraints or being canon, all the while maximizing their profits via popular character DLC?
SNK is clearly not lacking money, it’s lacking thought and vision. In brief, they don’t know what direction they’re going
Their marketing plan was PREDICTABO too. Most fighting games won’t make sales in Japan without an arcade version (every KOF game before XIV was released on arcade first). It was inevitable for SNK to come up with a KOFXIV port for Type X3, which is a system based on PC hardware architecture. People not aware of this ended up being “victims”
What do you call the case of Kyo then? From an asshole delinquent to slightly mature asshole to J-POP idol?!!!
Not talking about polygons and hair but facial features? Gravitate to DLC costume? What do you call this then?
And before you would say it, I brought pictures from recent builds
[/details]
What makes you think they made the game from scratch? Most of the battle system and mechanics can be ported to suit 2.5D environment. All their focus went to graphics and they’ve been talking about it like it’s their sole selling point.
You speak about design yet you only made excuses for the non up to standards graphics.
What about animation issues? What about character design? What about UI? What about plot? What about mechanics? What about bugs? [What about hiccups](RE:KOF XIV 2.0 Fireball unblockable bug What about input lag?
Graphics is not the only department where XIV is failing, I could care less if the game was balanced but everything is implemented badly. There’s no attention to details what so ever.
Here’s a nice dev story:
During the Orochi saga they reflected the purple flames’ superiority through move sets. Iori’s dp had good invincibility and can hit up to 3 hits. Ironically even Chris’ fireball is superior when used with unblockable setups. On the other hand EX Kyo’s dp lacked in invincibility and could only deal 2 hits. To compensate, the plot suggested Kyo learned Kenpo and used it in all of his techniques. Result: Kyo has autoguard in his dp along with most of his flame/punching tech. Nothing in XIV indicates purple flames having more power than crimson flames. They all deal the same damage and work the same way.
I’m sorry where did they prove me wrong??? And what actual players? I don’t know where you’re going with that, I’m an actual player myself.
Furthermore, I think I have the right to post here because I’m still being relevant to MvCI and Capcom. If mod thinks otherwise, I kindly ask for my two posts to be moved into a suitable category like “general discussion” but not “King of fighters”; it’s dead there.
Please link where SNK announced DLC chars for XIV before launch. I must’ve missed that part, but I’m sure you remember.
…
All that screeching your doing is nice and all, but everyone knows made in China SNK isn’t as good as the 90s version of them. None of that is a legit argument for why Capcom doesn’t have their shit together.
Those were different topics and not about Snk why are your mixing it? Okay by the way I’ll just answer in right way.
Taken from other argument your combining different comments
Spoiler
Doesn’t prove anything and discredit my opinion. Do you the lore behind that KOF99 Kyo is that about DLC or facial features? It had a decent lore not a made up story as an excuse because you got the other Kyos in game not as a DLC with very similar facial features. Another thing what facial aesthetics is different from KOF99 Kyo from the rest of the previous games and also the other two in game Kyos? KOF 99 has no DLC you got also the original variant not just one but two based on the previous games Kyo1 and Kyo2 as a secret character not as DLC
SF2-SF4-SF5-SF3 thats the game timeline so the characters should look younger than there SF3 counterparts. So the design should compromised with SF3 counterparts.
Another thing SF characters had different personality than Kyo especially Ryu from the way they dress and age. Kyo wearing different jacket or having a sense of fashion seems tolerable as like Hot Ryu is.
While this Kyo still have the same facial aesthetics and feature like his pixelated counterpart but with a slightly change of hairstyle seems okay and normal for a human being and also simply appropriate to his age. The new jacket that is probably his fashion sense and lifestyle.
Changing **facial feature **radically is weird in SFV that it will destroy the brand gradually
Nah dude you taken a lot out of the context that isn’t about SNK argument it was about Capcom’s product someday elses failure doesn’t give another company another entitlement to fail or permit to have low productivity. We know SNK failed a lot of times numerous and we don’t want Capcom to be the same. Capcom standards isn’t about that the thing is this is just about FACIAL FEATURES. This is a simple thing that capcom usually does all this need is to organize stuff.
Taken out of the context it has nothing to do with KOF 99 Kyo since it was the same facial structure of Kyo and it compromised with the story also it was to differentiate him from KYO-1 and KYO2 which is the same Kyo so nothing had change there different issue.
It’s still the same facial features of Kyo same as the default and by his pixelated verion. By the way the Nightmare Geese is cool other than his aura it was also an innovation for being an alternate DLC costume because it had it’s own unique sound files than the usual with Capcom.
Kensou and Athena same case with Kyo. Andy, Chang, Kim Maxima and etc still look like there pixel counter part in terms of Facial Features.
To be fair with SNK brand they had been innovated and creative in the 90’s for having a FG titles to experiment a lot of different game mechanics that capcom never did dare compete with like pseudo 3d, dodge, tag and they even pioneered 3v3. The thing is many of those mechanics isn’t appealing and among the KOF titles the best was KOF98 and KOF02 so no wonder the comeback of SNK didn’t weant two bizarre game team mechanics and go back to what people wanted it more. It’s like Capcom 2-round system that is still used in the current SF builds.
So because SNK had those issues Capcom should had also?
Capcom shouldn’t go down and level his capabilities because this ain’t 90’s that it’s about MK and Sf or SF and KOF competition and technology is different nowadays. What ever makes SNK less doesn’t give Capcom an entitlement and privileged to lower it’s standards because of the direct competition and quality I’m talking about facial features here specifically. This isn’t Capcom vs SNK thing like it was before.
Wait what the? lore as a strength advantage? this ain’t RPG and actually it doesn’t matter… Ryu’s Focus attack supposed something special. Lore as a strength thing is never bothered in SF to be an in game advantage especially in MVC games. Ryu’s own version of SRK had poor priorities had been since SSF4 .
MvCI is starting with less characters than MvC3, complete with pre-order chars. KoF XIV started with 33% more characters than KoF XIII, with no pre-order chars. And enough new chars to make a new IP. But yeah, keep saying that everything that applies to Infinite was done XIV.
I like how his long ass essay filled with opinions, trivia, and some facts was supposed to validify the factually false equivalency that was made.
The thing is everyone keeps on comparing other FGs failure and miss for Capcom to be accepted and tolerated in their recent works and to downplay people expectation of productivity while some keep on comparing Capcom’s FG to other non-FG based games success.
I used to remember when people are talking that it’s just about marketing thing that can cover SFV. The recent comments and reaction justified my point from what I have said earlier before DBFZ spoiler. The DBFZ spoiler did a major change in the hype and surface of the community.
The thing is it’s always about FGs to FGs that is the inevitable comparison. Marketing can beat smaller companies with also smaller IP but their a huge difference when it’s big players that offers quality. Marketing techniques and tricks is just a secondary strategy in this situation.
The DLC scheme of SFxTekken gives a bad impression to Capcom and add up the loss aversion that SFV cause then now they had to deal with a direct competition with bigger and more influential IP. I wonder how they would bring back the same impression and regain the trust they have during SF4, TVC and MVC3 dev period.
And what does all that shit that you posted have to do with my post?
I wasn’t talking to you, and my reply had nothing to do with kof.
Leave me out of your nonsense please.
Yeah this shillers instead compare to the missed of other games with the same games to justify Capcom’s downsize productivity. If Capcom wants success they should surpass other games with the same genre rather than comparing to every other companies failure and using it as a privelge and entitlement to downsize their productivity.
Capcom won’t be better FG by comparing and leveling to other FG dev missed instead they are just making a FG with subpar quality rather than besting and surpassing the rest. Capcom should wake up and need they should strive for success in quality not by marketing gimmick or by game politics and shillers.
@The_Shakunetsu …Shill? Troll harder.
It is so easy to accuse people. In fact it’s more effective than actually refuting.
My other linked accounts have nothing but KOF (ST just a little). I always praise KOF98 whenever I get the chance. I even called Capcom “corporate greed“. So why the quick judge? It’s okay though, the vast majority is like this. I’m just the ugly black duckling here.
Again, overlooking a lot of points. I explicitly said if XIV had good overall design then I wouldn’t mind some mistakes here and there. Just how many times are you going to repeat “facial feature”?
While I’m trying to show you the big picture you insist on looking at it on a microscopic level. What you like/dislike is not universal and is very very subjective. Therefore I’m not going to waste any more time talking about totally off subject comparisons and whatnot.
Anyway Capcom doesn’t need no “gimmicks”, they will sell regardless.
Every game has had its surge in popularity and hype, and the upcoming MvCI and DBFZ will be no different. Give the big players in fighting games (SF, TK, MvC, KI, GG or in this case DBFZ) a year or so and eventually everything will even out like it always did.
Someone’s left in the dust.
What’s your point? Any Capcom fan boy would make the exact same fallacy: “Bla bla bla but everyone knows Capcom2017 isn’t as good as the 90s version of them so give them a break.”
I’m not defending anyone, but rather making a correlation between Capcom’s methodology of conducting affairs and SNK’s
Wtf is going on with these analysis papers in this thread?
Also isn’t there enough ugly in MvC:I already? Do we have to look at that butt-ugly dumpster fire called KOF14 as well here?
When did 2 DLC costumes become the same as 6 characters lmfao? For all that knowledge on SNK shit, maybe you should put some effort on reading comprehension. And I’m still waiting on how their roster trimming is the same, I’m just baffled as to why you didn’t address that.
Cool, and then you said that “everything said here on this thread applies 100% for KOFXIV,” which is factually wrong. You talk about holding modern SNK to higher standards, cool, they should be. I’m gonna hold you to the higher standard of getting all your facts straight. Anyone who has basic logic knows why XIV isn’t getting torn to shreds the way MvCI is. The one similarity they did share, both were ripped equally and deservingly.
Fact that’s the first time I used the word shill in this forum and a lot already already has been using that in this thread. Another thing it wasn’t about you and to begin with my issue here is facial aesthetics which was the issue of many across the net.
Your the only TROLL here dragging and diverting people to focus with your KOFXIV and SNK issues in MVC thread.
What are you trying to prove here Capcom’s entitlement to level with SNK’s fails? but not with SNK’s advantage in production.
The case here is for Capcom to improved there standards and quality at least UMVC3 standard of retail package from mode. My comments here is focus mainly with facial aesthetics which I believe can be solve easier but Capcom didn’t bother to organize and SNK had no same issue with the facial structure of main characters their graphical problem was in a different area.
After SNK issue now what graph of google analytic? So what does that mean now your using graph to belittle the DBFZ hype?
What? People have been complaining since SFIV. Everything for 1f links, Ultras, oki, FADC. And SFV has been getting shit since DAY ONE. Lack of modes, characters losing cool shit from betas. Not knowing what DLC characters are coming. The lack of an arcade mode. Survival mode being ass. Even down to how many costumes people get. You think because SFV has a board and SFV is at Evo, people all over like it? People have been giving Capcom shit for a long time. What you’re seeing is that people are still dedicated to their series i.e. MvC.
SNK is a different beast. Thing is SNK is only pumping out KOF and re-releasing everything else. And honestly despite flaws, you do get a better product than SFV. Everyone, including me, gawked at the graphics KoF XIV had. I still don’t like how it looks. You only have KoF XIV. You don’t have another Samurai Showdown, Real Bout etc to select from. You got ONE game. And even with balance issues, people will play it.
Anyway, the final point is: You will see people tolerating crap because of dedication to the series. It simply takes a while for everyone to reach a breaking point.
