What's a good Capture Card?

Any good prices for the Hauppauge? So far, the best I’ve found was Amazon.ca, where they have it for $229.

Oh. Well anyways I have to use HDMI since my monitor (I game on that instead of an hdtv) only has vga/dvi/hdmi. So, where could I get an HDMI to component adapter/converter?

Google HDFURY2

Hmm the quality on that is great, just as good as the HD PVR in my opinion, i’ll have to buy one of these!

My PVR was shipped today. If I’m lucky, I’ll get it tomorrow, otherwise I gotta wait till next week. I still need to get some PS3 component cables, but Monoprice is out of stock at the moment (are the cables popular or something?).

amazon.ca has many versions in stock

I’ve tried a lot of different ones and I use:

I use the Intensity Pro and the Shuttle currently, amazing devices for $199 and they offer products going all the way from prosumer to full professional level.

I finally got everything I need to record video…got damn, this PVR is great. Thanks to everyone who recommended the Happauge, this device is awesome.

I have a Dazzle and I have pretty ok quality vids, although I record Modern Warfare 2 gameplay. It records using regular RCA cables in Standard Definition. The Blitz Box is pretty shit as far as quality is concerned. Don’t get it. If you want to record in HD, most people go with the Hauppauge HD PVR as previously mentioned. The Hauppauge records with Component cables (The Red, Green, and Blue ones if you didn’t know). If you want sexy cum-in-your-pants quality, you can go with the Blackmagic Intensity Pro, which records through HDMI and connects to your computer through a PCI Express port on your motherboard. Blackmagic also has an Intensity Shuttle which is a portable version of their Blackmagic Intensity Pro, although it connects through USB 3.0 which I doubt anyone has unless you’re an ultra cool guy who just built a computer.

What’s a good bitrate you guys use when recording vids? I’m currently using 11 Mbps, which might be a bit high for uploading vids to YouTube. I think I can bring that number down a bit without sacrificing too much quality.

4mbs is perfect for youtube.

My PC and xbox are on different floors of the house. Does there have to be a cable link, or can you store the video on your recording device before moving it to the PC?

Hauppauge HD PVR is the bees knees.

Here is a 720P Capture of SSF4 with the AverMedia HD PVR over HDMI. It looks better pre-youtubeification as an mpg. The mpg is 60fps, youtube seems to drop that and recompress

In conjunction with a monoprice splitter it seems like a really good, simple, and relatively cheap way to go

i use the avermedia as well and i love it. you even get picture in picture so you can play your games and watch tv at the same time on your pc its pretty cool. theres input lag here and there to none at all. i would so recommend this to anyone esp if they are on a budget. its better then dishing out 200$. but if you want portable your gonna have to spend some more. avermedia has a usb one as well.

Any opinions on which of the blackmagic cards would be better? The intensity pro and shuttle seem very good but i just cant decide which would be the better one. The shuttle seems more portable (although usb 3.0) but would the intensity pro perform better than the shuttle?
