Does anybody know if there’s a difference in warranty (if there is a warranty) in buying the MLG 360 TE from Amazon or the Madcatz website itself?

Whoops sorry i meant the Fighting Stick VX. Also was unaware of the EX being discontinued. Checked some reviews but haven’t worked on tracking down any of these yet. Thanks for the help.

Hey guys I’m a total noob here on SRK but have been playing fighting games since I was a tyke. I’ve done a ton of research and am looking to finally get a good stick.

I’ve been looking at the Hori UMVC 3 stick and also the madcatz TE2. Any personal opinions?

New from Amazon it self, the warranty is as good as if you purchase the stick from a actual retail store or Mad Catz directly. Assuming you purchase the controller new. Used or from a 3rd party vender is a different story, if the stick is confirmed new than you more than likely can get the warranty for it. Used, your SOL.

The TE series has the most customization options available so far, so if customization your thing go with the TE,or better yet the new Street Fighter X Tekken V.S. stick (not the Street Fighter X Tekken Pro)

As Art Hong demonstrated this stick has tons of customization and modding possibilities.

The UMVC 3 stick from Hori isn’t bad ether, as there 2 sticks are almost par with each other
If it boils down to your personal aesthetics just choose the one fits you more

Do you guys know what the ps3 equivalent of the Hori Real Arcade Pro EX (for xbox 360) is? I want to buy another stick for ps3, but want one that is as close to the HRAPEX as possible.

HRAP3

Hrap (1), Hrap 2 = PS1/ PS2
Hrap 3 = PS3
Hrap EX = Xbox 360

Thanks Darksakul!!! Also was wondering the big difference between a square gate and an octagonal gate. The most customizing I plan to do it probably the artwork.

How they feel while the joystick is in use. Octagonal (and round/circular) are easier for circular motions on the joystick like :qcf:and :qcb: and also :hcf:
Square gates are better for finding the diagonals :uf::ub::db: :df:

It said that Square is better for new/ beginning players and some professional tournament players prefer square.

Is the sfxt vs. stick that much better than the pro? is it a lot bulkier and heavier or just a little? The pro design looks like it’s a little more ergonomical/comfortable

are these two significantly better than the other TE’s still on the market?

IMO the TE series is better than the Fightstick PRO & Fightstick V.S

Personal favourites are the TE Round 2 and the Soul Calibur 5 TE

The reason I think they are better is because they are so much friendlier to modify and have a decent weight to size ratio.

Hmm…well not really interested in modifying this particular stick much. The Soul Calibur stick does look pretty nice…but how sturdy is it? It looks a little plastic-y. The Fightstick VS just looks really solid…my only worry is that it is too big and cumbersome?

…also, looking back a couple pages it seems like people have had problems with the stock stick in the soul calibur 5 edition

After dual modding one recently I was left quite disappointed by the V.S. It felt much less ‘solid’ than a standard TE, and was left with the impression that the plastic is very easy to mark. Felt more flimsy than the plastic shell of a TE.

If only the V.S was built using a metal shell…

So I ended

So I bought the Hori Umvc3 stick. What made me decide was that Amazon is having a sale on it today. 40 bucks off only 109.99!!!

The Soul Calibur stick stick used the same base as the TE, only the bezel and layout is physically different

Hello people. I like to start this by saying, I had a quick search though the first post on here (and got overloaded by the knowledge) and used the search function to no prevail to find out more on the controllers I did find.

I’m looking to buy a new gamepad ( before you suggest arcade sticks, they are too expensive and too much of a fuss for me at the moment for me to want one. I just want to jump in and play) because as great as the PS3 one is, the D-Pad is making my thumb uncomfortable (making it feel like a blister is coming on) and this is limiting my game time since I always need to give my thumb a rest for a couple days to let it settle down.
I’ve had a quick look round using my VERY limited knowledge and found two pads that kinda interest me

Chun-Li FightPad

Sega Saturn Pad

At the moment I’m more swayedby the Chun-Li pad since as great as I heard the Sega Saturn pads are, I’m pretty sure the second pad is not an sega offical one because its missing Sega on the faceplate. That, and the Chun-Li fightpad looks pretty sweet seeing as she’s my favourite SF character and the controller itself looks like the sort of thing I would want. What has stopped me from just straight up buying it is the name Madcatz has some bad connotations for me. Flashes back to the craptastic slew of PS1 and PS2 controllers that I had used as a kid

So, Is the SF4 Fightpads worth their weight or am I right in thinking that madcatz are still pretty bad at making controllers?
And if they’re not worth their weight, would the Sega pads be worthwhile?

Or failing those two, could you led me you knowledge on gamepads/fightpads to help me pick something that isn’t going to break the back (£40~) and something is relatively easy for someone from England to get?

Edit:- I thought I better chuck this in because it might help guide my choice. The main two games that I’m going to be using this for will be SkullGirls and SF3:3SOE seeing as they’re only fighting games that I’ve found to enjoy. I do have a copy of UMvC3, MvC3 and MvC2 kicking about though so I MIGHT get some use out of it for UMvC3 and if I’m crazy enough to walk into an asskicking, MvC2.

Your best options for PS3 pads would be the Hori Fighting Commander 3 Pro or the newer SFxT madcatz fightpad. The newer SFxT pad is wired, smaller and the Dpad feels a little better than the SF ones. Hori’s pad has a great SNES style Dpad and you can toggle the shoulder buttons. It really comes down to your preference of Dpad. I dont think you’ll be dissapointed by either, but pad players are a picky bunch

Mmm. Right, I’m not liking the look on dpad for that Hori pad. Looks like it might ruin my thumb more then my current ps3 controller so I’m going to look into the SFxT/SF4 fightpad.
Do you know how much better the SFxT pad is over the SF4 pad? Since I don’t actually play fighting games serious enough to where the faceplate is enough to sway me one way or the other. Don’t want to have to get the SFxT pad if everytime I pick it up, I going to wish I picked the Chun-Li one up beacuse the SFxT ones look a bit nasty.
Also, With the SF4 pad. Do you know if it takes batteries or if they work the same way the PS3 controller works?
