taunts are just an extra slap in the face to some people, this game can get real scrubby especially online where people KNOW offline that shit wouldn’t fly. I ran into a High Lord 1203-47 something and all he did was spit/doom hidden missile assist. I got him down to doom and he clearly didn’t know how to use him.
He did beat me one time (fucking lag=high spit dmg) and taunt his ass off at the end. I don’t mind people taunting me, the button is there for reason I guess.

Haha, I was Magneto, Sentinel, and X-23 (Who I never use) playing against a Dante, Morrigan, and Viewtiful Joe. He ended with 5-3 so I left and I said “I’m salty haha GG’s” then he responds with “Only fags who have no skills use Sentinel” So I tell him Alright let’s rematch with no Sentinel and he says no thanks. As someone who actually tries to play Sentinel the right way (not that I’m very good, but I at least try) that really irritates me. People who abuse stupid stuff give a bad name to people who actually attempt to play that character.
As for the taunting, it depends. If you just taunt once for the fun of it, there’s no harm. I do it sometimes with Tron (Ohohoho!) or Sentinel (UNDERMINE TARGET’S CONFIDENCE) (with Morrigan I just whiff her command grab.) It’s when someone spams them or starts teabagging that it comes off as douchy. Also, something I’ve noticed is that teabagging and taunt spamming seems to be most prevalent with Akuma players.
