Maybe they thought you were talking about Gossip Girl, and they got angry at the thought of it.
I don’t know if i’m wrong in this case but, some1 picked geif. I know how people use him so i knew i had to stay away. The character i chose was ryu. Now, i’m normally not the guy to spam hados and SKRs but, i timed his moves and connected each one, leading with a low MK. :(, he said this :
“typical shoto-only nub, try playing with other characters u faggort, blocked”
Lucikly, i have a keypad on my controller, so i messaged him first saying:
“~lol i didn’t mean to keep fireballing but…you did choose geif…had to keep you away from getting caught with grabs all match”
I am not trying to disrespect you or anything, but I dont get this. If your beating someone this badly why do you continue to play them. If I get over a 5 win streak over someone who has basic skills (doesnt jump in crazy, can block well etc) , I will switch to a character I never use and try to learn him. Were these matches close? I could understand that.
I played a guy the other day who had his mic on. I guess he was used to playing dudes without a mic that he was saying some dumb shit. After I beat him 2 games with bison, he yells over something to his wife about this faggot bison player who keeps throwing. He kept going on about faggot this, cheap that until after 2 more rounds of hearing this shit I chimed in and said “You know I can hear everything you are saying”. He was shocked and laughed for a good minute before he apologized. It made me laugh cause after a couple of rounds I picked abel a character i never use and comboed his c.F into sky fall and he was like "that wrestler just did some cool as shit, its a throw and still cheap but it looked cool. After that I came to the conclusion that my skills were too much for him to handle and looked for a different challenge.
Usually, if I dominate someone I will immediately switch to one of my less effective characters to work on them.
However…sometimes its nice to be able to dominate someone with your main for a bunch of matches…gives you all kinds of chances to work on new techniques in the dynamic environment of a fight.
I like to think of it as Training Mode: The Improved Version.
:china:
If I lose to someone and they streak me, I tend to want to keep fighting them personally; sticking around and trying to find out what will work helps your game immensely…though this rarely happens these days.
You know I used to think it was rude to beat someone into the ground repeatedly. And probably boring for them. Boring for me, for sure. But I had never really been on the other end of a beating so I didn’t know for certain what it felt like.
Then the other day, ald_one hits me up on hd remix for some matches and beats me like 20-1 or something. I did make adjustments and the matches were closer towards the end. I thanked him for playing me, and implicitly, for playing me so long. I definitely appreciated it as a learning experience. Depending on your skill level, it’s not often you find someone to totally dominate you. It’s a learning experience and it’s an experience the better player is essentially gifting you because it’s probably very boring for him to beat you 20-1.
The inferior player can leave when he’s had enough. But I don’t assume he’s had enough.
That’s how I see it.
People message me sometimes when I win because they accused me of spamming chun-li’s thunder kicks lol I barley use her thunder kicks and I only use an ex version of it anyway and they complain about me using a cheap air throw to every time they jump lol.
Since when is it boring to lose! :wgrin:
Seriously though, losing to someone who is totally dominating you gets frustrating at times but it’s the best way to learn. You end up developing tactics that may not be good enough to beat that person (or they may) but when applied to others open your game up considerably.
got fantastic one last night.
I’m noticing a lot of people counter pick my Guile with Bison. So I beat this dingleberry 3 matches in a row because he keeps trying the headstomp and keeps getting airthrown out of them.
Him: U gotta be shittin’ me, air throw = loser cheap playing
Me: I wouldn’t shit you, you’re my favorite turd. Air throw = winner cheap playing
Him: FUCK U!!! U can’t do anything besides air throw
Me: Sure I can, problem is you kept doing your headstomps so I didn’t need to do anything else
Him: Fuckin’ *** shithead
Me: I hate gays, but I do enjoy fucking barnyard animals. Nothing like giving sheeps a good going over and a massive power load to the face.
Him: WTF?!?! You’re sick!
Me: C’mon youre from Alabama, don’t pretend like this is shocking to you.
Some people seem to think “headstomp x 10 billion” is an effective strategy. It amazes me.
Although I have to admit, it threw me fits at first when I didn’t know how well it beat out DPs.
I got caught out by it big time for a while. Then I just changed up my game and made it ineffective for the most part (still get caught every once in a while).
It’s really funny when I get really aggressive and force a Headstomper in the corner with constant combos and throws…they ragequit 8/10 times.:shake:
I’m practicing to use Fuerte in online matches, so I have the “In Training” title on. It’s pretty obvious that I don’t have a grasp of the character yet as my opponent’s whiffed DPs repeatedly go unpunished. He beat me like 3 times in a row (I won once).
Then I had to leave, but I allowed myself one last match. I chose Chun Li and DESTROYED him (3 straight rounds, one perfect). Then I left.
The next day I found in my inbox “So who did you hand your controls over to, huh? Man, I know someone’s there! I beat you so bad with Ken just playing around, so that couldn’tve been you! You can’t fool me!”
I thought the “In Training” tag would have hinted that he was up for some easy matches. Don’t act surprised that it’s not my “regular” character.
I’m in the same boat. I main Fei Long but I started working with Cammy 3 days ago. Far too many people leave the lobby if they beat my Cammy so I started playing as Fei Long first so that they can see I have some skill. Once that’s established, I switch to Cammy and see how it goes. I don’t think anyone even recognizes the “In Training” tag can be legit.
On topic: I had one guy message me this profanity laden message because I beat him using cross-ups and throws. He called me a cheap fucker and then demands a rematch, in which I don’t use cross-ups or throws. I let him know that the only viable rules in SF are the ones the dev put in place so throws and cross-ups are a part of the game and are therefore not “cheap.” This went back and forth for about an hour and then explained to him that I would have given him a rematch had he asked for one not been a dick.
That is a great idea. I suppose the trick is to not beat them too bad initially with your reg character to incite a rage quit. Give them 2nd round or something
Then again, I wouldn’t have anything good to share on this thread
No they weren’t very close
I didn’t feel like getting another room up and I was able to experiment with characters i rarely use (Viper). I was also practicing other combo alternatives and mixups
he helped me alot. The training room is great for execution, but a human player is different. I rarely get the opportuinity to play other characters online without losing badly and not learning anything
Guile is a pretty bad match-up for Bison, some people pick counter pick Guile vs my Bison just to have the upper-hand and think it’s enough to secure them a win.
Its the “Oh you picked guile, so I am going to pick Sagat” counter picking that drives me nuts.
I refuse to play that game…so now what I do is hover over Guile, choose my color and wait.
They pick first, then I finish my choice…in fairness when I do this, I NEVER move to another character after their choice.
I hope this sends the message: I am not going to let you counter pick me, but I am not going to be a hypocrite and counter pick you either.
Hmm… rarely get mail myself, because I just suck at this game (but this actually helps me control my temper)
But after a losing streak with Dhalsim, after I lost against a Zief who piledrivered me several times during the match and finished me with his ultra… No, I didn’t ragequit, but send the other player:
“seems like you enjoy sniffing at dhalsims balls. j/k, gg!”
Got no reply…
Btw… I soooooo hate it “tipping” with the joystick…
I sent someone a message last night that said “good gief, giving me grief” after he handed my ass to me. That is what I get for not sleeping and trying to play Street Fighter
My girl also likes watching me crack skulls :D. She usually just plays Oblivion on PC if I’m playing SFIV. I don’t want her on my Steam account
