"what other players msg you after you beat them" SF4 Edition

Haha I gotta use that when people complain about me throwing (Yeh, I play Abel.)

Dominated someone yesterday and got a message right after the ranked match. “Your a F’n Cheater” is what he sent me. I asked “y?” and never got a response.

I’d have no problem playing the guy again but I doubt it would make a difference. Apparently, when I win I’m always cheating so the dude would prob not let up until he finally was handed a match.:looney:

“Been playing alot of run away sagats and akuma lately it’s gay and boring”

My reply:
“U MAD”

I’m glad I saw someone say that they send people that, I find it almost more entertaining than stomping people.

I had a good night last night.

I played a handful of ranked matches, all of which I won except for one guy who raped me with NO LUBE playing Fei aganst my Akuma.

The surprising thing is that I had some great player matches last night. I would typically win the first match with Guile (not my main, but I really want to get him to that point) and then if they stuck around, I would choose a different character every match, win or lose.

I think some of these cooler guys appreciated that…cause I would go like 10-1 or 10-0 against these guys using different characters every match but they kept playing! It was great, I got to use Abel, Sakura, Viper…and since I wasn’t just dominating them with my main, it was a win-win.

My new formula is to play my mains in ranked matches, but then go over to player matches to work on my secondary characters in a slightly more laid back environment.

Its working well, I would recommend it.

I got NO hatemail and a few “Hey good game!” type messages too.

Seriously, what the hell is the deal with Ken in this game? Do new players think he’s cool or something? I honestly cannot understand why he is so predominantly picked. I mean, the shotos make huge appearances online, but why is Ken so prevalent?

Just press the PS button and go to the far right of the XMB to your inbox. No need to quit your game.

I had a some decent games night last night except for one Cammy scrub named something gay like Showstoppa. He started talking shit and telling me to man up when I would back off and throw different speed kikokens trying to bait him to jump so I could hit him with EX SBK. He was spamming cannon spikes the whole match so why the F would I jump at him right? Anyways the dude proceeds to send me 5 messages after I beat him saying I wasn’t a real man because I didn’t play offensively. I honestly think he took offense to my XBL motto saying something pretty negative about Halo LOL. Anyways if anyone else plays this dude, smash his face in for me.

I haven’t gotten anything, I dunno why. I even taunt constantly when playing those Ken scrubs. Hell, I’ll even pick Dan and do the Super Taunt.

I did get 1 Friend Request though.

D:

I’ve put a lot of thought into this, cause Ken is my main (and has been since 1992)…so the prevalence of Ken noobs bothers me.

Reasons Ken is noob preferred:

  1. Ken and Ryu are the characters many people use to learn the game. Ryu has always been the most balanced character in SF games (IMHO)…and using Ken is not too far off. To noobs who don’t see the differences, Ken is just Ryu with a flashier appearance.

  2. Ken is American, young, and male…so he appeals to a demographic that is very common for people playing this game.

  3. Even the noobs have figured out that Ken’s wake up F.SRK can dish out a lot of hurt…so they want to use a character that they feel is powerful.

  4. Ken is one of the most publicized characters…many game trailers, previews, game play videos, IGN Strategize tips, etc…feature ken.

I think those reasons I just listed all work together to produce a perfect storm of noobs trying to main Ken.

I got so sick of it that I am now maining Akuma, and I only use Ken against much more skilled players.

I go with Ken when I play against Gief, Ryu, Sagat or mirror match. Gouken for Akuma(don’t ask, I guess I have an easier time getting in Akuma’s face with Gouken) and Chun-Li when I’m feeling giddy lol. She’s fun to use and I want to make her a main in the future.

Edit: Oh forgot something. I’m definitely in agreement with parabellum on his last post. I’m sure that when a month or two goes by we’ll see less Kens and more diversity or a lack thereof. I got to play a freakin’ Rose for the first time the other night, it was so fun to play someone different. Then I played a pretty solid Ken that made me think “Man all those scrub Kens made me scrubby…gonna go home and be a family man.” Sent that dude a message sayin’ GG and he’s JP so we’re buds on XBL now.

I played a few ranked today and noticed something. I’m currently ranked in the 11,000’s and when I lose a match it takes almost 80-90+BP away but when I win I only get under 50.

This wasn’t a problem when I was lower ranked but I worked hard for those points. I guess for every loss it’s like taking 2 steps back and it takes x2+ wins to make up for a single loss.

Time to step up my game and hide the true demon etc a little better.

Also keep in mind that Ken is the more commonly seen shoto from 3s, and also on the good end of that whole daigo-wong full-parry craziness at evo2k4.

Plus I feel like Ryu’s game actively requires very careful zoning, while scrubs might actually win a game just by being super-aggressive with Ken. (Not to say that Ken can’t be played at a high level, of course.)

I always have to do at least one “shit-test” with everyone I play, usually in the first round, where I determine:

  1. Are they going to DP reversal every time they get knocked down?
  2. Are they going to jump into my DP reversal if I do it every time I get knocked down?
  3. If I just sit here and wait for them to jump so I can DP them, will they do it?

It’s kind of sad that I have to actually sit around and figure out the answers to those questions befores I can really start playing the game.

I figured I’d lose the same amount you are because it was against someone with lower BP…since it always was. /rage But I did get a double k.o. draw and I lost 20 BP and the other dude gained 20. WTF Capcom? I worked hard too you blood-suckin’ bastards!

The best I’ve gotten is, and I think I actually lost this match too

“thanks for not picking Ken”

I’ve been maining Rose atm.

I often do the same…first round is a feeler round to see what kind of game they are playing. I often try to figure out if they will rushdown, turtle, zone, etc…

And frankly, I do not “play to win” in regular player matches…that is what Ranked Matches are for. In player matches, if I’m a lot better than my opponent, I will cut them some slack so they have the room to try new and more challenging techniques.

I still aim to win each round, but I will purposely let it get down to the wire if I feel I am capable of dominating my opponent.

“WHY IS IT THAT EVERY NUB WHO PLAYS THIS GAME PICKS AKUMA AND GOUKEN?”

wut?

I haven’t seen anyone pick Gouken or Gouki yet. I guess people are still trying to unlock them. They’re unnecessarily complicated to unlock so I guess some people are still working on it. Once people get them up they’ll be running the shoto train with those guys too. Luckily Gouken plays almost completely indistinguishable from a shoto so he’ll be fun to fight. I already played one guy online who was seriously picking him up and he looks fun as heck.

I haven’t gotten anything yet. Speaking of which, can you even ragequit in this game? I don’t remember being able to get to the start menu while online.

You use the xbox button to exit the game entirely, or shut off your router.

Same thing happened to me, I drew the match and lost 57 point and my opponent gained 57 points. Why shoul I loose points as I never drew the match???

“you’re a fucking pussy using the same move over and over again you fucking faggot”

Just got this after a match. Apparently, Bison’s Psycho Crusher, Double Knee Press, Head Stomp, and Devil’s Reverse, are the exact same move.

Someone alert Famitsu.
