It’s the other way around. It’s heavily in favor of the attacker. The guy applying pressure might eat 150 damage from a random dragonpunch that resets the situation.
The defender might get thrown, might get frametrapped for trying to tech said throw or get massively punished for trying to reversal out of the pressure. All of these options lead into more pressure/mixups, which is why offensive characters like Seth, C. Viper, Cammy, Yun/Yang Rufus, Akuma, Ibuki etc. have been considered so strong throughout the game’s lifespan.
I don’t necessarily agree that those situations favor the attacker, but I do find it interesting that everybody claims how defensive SF4 is, yet defensive characters almost never win tournaments.
Rufus, Abel, Yun, Cammy, Akuma, Adon, etc., have won way more tournaments than Honda, Guile, Sim, etc.
I think SF42012 is a consistent solid game, its just not my type of game. I can’t put my finger on it but there’s something about the game that makes it feel very slow and shallow to me, I think that’s due to the fact that I am used to more wild fast paced games like Marvel, BB, ST, umk3 etc. And I am looking forward to SFxT.
Get some info people. Ima set the record straight. Im no OG, but I like to think I’ve done my research. Watch shit like LAAkuma (Jeff Schaefer) to know the whole story.
People liked World Warrior, but then CE came out with more chars. People liked that. Then Hyper Fighting came out. People LOVED the speed increase and thought it was the best FG ever. Then Capcom comes out with Super SF2 and then Super Turbo.
A lot of OG’s thought ST was shit. They said zoning died with Hyper Fighting and that Super Turbo was scrub friendly. Isn’t that funny? Now, ask anyone on SRK and ST is the hardest game around. It’s funny how perspectives change.
Anyways 3s is a godliek game. 4 sucks because it is way too friendly to new players and then at high level it is just memorization of setups.
It’s all about the characters. If you like playing shotos over and over, SFIV probably delivers for you. 3s though, is still very much a cult game, because unless you are really on point with those guys, you will probably get blown up by people like me who never pick them.
HF players literally went home and became family men in many cases. ST players, with that ever so slightly younger group getting sucked in by Jap vids over the years and emulation, will probably fight mirror matches less than most other fighters. Personally, I think the game is pretty easy to play on a stick with like a video crash course in a few weeks. Just remember what a big deal throws are in SFII, and block cross-ups.
Realistically, the way SFIV plays out for most of us, it’s a pretty horrible slow game full of bs, but I have to say, I enjoyed the Taiwan v China Evo finals. Very aggressive Cammy and Adon play on both sides. Fighting games as I believe they should be played.
The usual Capcom “Latest is greatest syndrome”, just like Mvc2: they’ve gone so long without a sequel that when some new sequel, regardless of how ugly and crappy or Mugen-esque and broken (mvc2) it is, they dive onto it and proclaim it mana from heaven.
Capcom doesn’t give a poop about the FGC as much as they do the newbie’s/scrubby kids/people who play it every now and then as they make up most of the marketing audience.
No one would buy it if[S] it was super hard[/S] they actuallly had to do a forward, down, down forward, forward motion to play.
You should see my cousins… they start celebrating when they do a hadouken/shoryuken LOL…
I got nothing against sfiv series as this game is way perfect for me…capcom has done de best.
if anything i hate about this game is people in this forum bitching about how bad this game are (which is not),
you retard complaints about the game mechanics, frame system, building meters, ultra & super damage inflicts, hitbox and hurtbox…which is the way i see it, there’s nothing wrong with em’.
all your bitching essay does not make any sense…
forget about what daigo had babling about 8way random guessing…he’s a japanese bitch.
you see if capcom didn’t came up with this game…we don’t even be here together.
and don’t get me start raise up on mashing, random and mix up hatred dat you guys keep ranting.
since again…all your whining doesn’t make any sense.
lets start to thank and appreciate capcom…shall we?
sorrowstick needs to learn criticism is a part of every day life and not necessarily a bad thing.
If there was no criticism there’d be no ‘improvements’ or changes to the game at all.
i think its because i never played fighers (i was all counterstrike, MMO’s, and SC2 before picking up SF4) but are shortcuts really that bad? i feel like i did the non shortcut srk for most of the time untill i learned you could shortcut it 2 months ago lol. and even when i play sagat you cant shortcut the kara+dp.
Other shortcuts i may not know about i wont say anything about but the srk shortcut seems pretty trivial
like i cant even use the shortcuts for cody but it doesnt bother me
but hey im one of those 09ers so i guess i dont count for shit :S
