Anyone know how to do the j. down C infinite with KYo in 98 I tried it and I did it like 3 straight times. maybe there is a shortcut? i know you have to be in the extra groove mode, is there anything else?

HAHa as for the guy that said about 95 wow that game brings back alot of memorys it was my first kof the AI was super tough it was so funny to see people getting ambushed by the first team especially korea!
95 was so much fun i could go on forever about the crazy going ons in that game guard canceling at max was too funny and the damage was just TOO MUCH i remember getting getting a c and d by daimon and it took half my bar.
I also remember blocking roberts hoahshokoken 3 times the last one took about 30% off of my bar ahhh the memorys, i think 95 had some terrible block damage you had to try and dodge everything otherwise you’d soon be down to half a bar just because you’re blocking specials oh a special mention for 96 mature for being one of the most predictable yet effective character EVER, cheesy skank c and d qcb+k now that’s what i call bread and butter
98 = best KoF ever

98 has a good understanding of balance in the characters, and each person can be used effectively. I guess that’s why it’s so well-loved by the concensus of SNK players and other gamers as well. It’s definetely one of the more notable editions.

For a long time kof 98 was regarded as the most balanced even though there was some massive errors in the game like athenas fireball teleport traps, daimons ground smash bug just to mention a couple all of which were game breaking.
But i think now kof 2002 is probably the more balanced kof now!
I just found so many things in 98 annoying daimons pokes and general skankyness, the RIDICULOUS counter damage Most noticeably ralfs maxed up far C and benimarus f d df k when maxed AOF ryos STUPID STUPID Kou ho ( i’ve probably mixed that up) lets just say his dp ! there’s so much else i cannot be arsed to go into i have very few gripes with kof2002

oh i kinda was gonna go into this on the other thread with the strats and stuff but i’ll do it now so here we go these are what i consider GAME BREAKING BUGS i wont explain why you can see for yourself
- the goro daimon ground smash bug
Ok this bug was actually started in 97 but it’s in 98 where it’s such a skank seeing as daimon does such insane damge, ok what it is after ANY non grapple knock down just say a hk sweep for instance your opponant can tech roll right? ok so what the ground smash it makes it impossible for them to tech roll and they are FORCED to take the damage of the ground smash.
Lets just say for example You’re daimon you’d do a knock down( lets just use a ducking hard sweep) as you do the sweep Cacel into another move lets say QCF and any kick which is his counter then right away you do the ground smash, now this normally would not be considered a combo BUT IT IS it even registers on the combo meter your opponant is unable to escape the damage of the ground smash even by tech rolling this can lead to some insane damage!
You dont have to use qcf and kick after the knock down you can use ANY quick special move that he has Like his LK ukemi roll or even his DP+ k grab as long as you do it pretty quick the grond smash should allways register after the knockdown! and again you can use pretty much any kock down you like i just used ducking hard sweep as an example you use any non grapple knock down like jumping c and d or standing c and d But take not after standing c and d you should cancel into a MOVE INSTANTLY, whereas doing it with ducking hard sweep allows a small window to cancel into a move, now this bug can be done ANYWHERE on the screen but note if you land it in the corner or near the corner you can follow up with hcf hp ( his floor grab) for more damage That’s why you might wanna cancel after a knock down with a lk ukemi roll to get you a little closer after the ground for the follow up.
Now i know i might seem strange but that was ONLY the start of the possibilty of the groundsmash bug where it really comes into play is after using his df c ( his anti air punch)
Ok for example foe jumps into you! you do df c cancel into (alltough it’s not absolutly nesessary that you cancel the df c into a fast recovery move, you can allow some time after the dfc hits then do a move i’m just saying cancel because that way it will allways work so there’s no chance of you doing the ground smash to late) LK ukemi roll, ground smash yes just from a dfc you can really add major damage! note again if your close or in the corner you just follow up with the floor grab for more damage
But here’s the ultimate pisstaker with daimon
foe jumps in, you do dfc if it says counter after the dfc you can really add massive damage try this ( dfc *counter hit cancel into lk ukemi roll then dfc again cancel again into lk ukemi roll ( or any fast recovering special) ground smash - 3 hits or f 4 if you can get the floor grab in after the ground smash
Now imo daimon was the best charcter even without the groundsmash but with it he just sails ahead of everybody great pokes great damage great range he’s just so fkn great !!111 Now it’s up to you to decide if you think it’s game breaking but i’ll think after you’ve played somebody that does that shit a few times on you you’ll soon see it is it’s complety unescapeable!!! and does insane damage

YOU MUST CANCEL THE HARDSWEEP into a fast recovering move
i just must have got mixed up sorry my bad anyway it’s still easy to do so you should have no trouble doing it :lol:
Ok here’s another one of those game breaking errors
The athena teleport bug/glitch whatever you want to call it
Right unlike Daimons bug this one is easy to do but unlike daimons you can loop this one to create a sort of infinent combo loop sort of thing, again this bug started in 97 and can be done right up to kof 2000 but you cannot use it as a loop because they removed her grab in 99 and 2000 ( actually i’m not even sure if it works in 2000) anyway!
ok start with athenas command grab (hcf hp) then do a hp fireball now as soon as it hits you dash back but while dashing back press down and B ( you know it’s her arse attack) now what this does it just makes you dash back faster likes ioris dash back and back+b or mains dash back + df lp ( or is it hp dont remember) ok when at the whole lenth of the screen do a slow fireball and a hk teleport what this does it makes your fireball unblockable when the fireball hits you do stand lk into her command grab then you just repeat the process over and over again until dead.
Now i’m not quite sure of the spacing if they need to be cornered and whatever it’s been so long i dont quite remember BUT!!! there’s another way to use this trick *command grab, hp fireball, lp fireball, hk teleport, as the lp fireball hits just to her crystal shining bit or whatever it’s called (hcbx2 any punch) the whole set up is trickey but if you can master it your athena will be unstoppable.
Now a few characters have this bug Basically it runs down as this floor foe use a projectile do a a move thus it makes your foe unable to block the projectile this bug is allway done at a whole screens lenth i allready explained takumas in the 98 thread
But i’ll explain the other characters

heidens same set up as the others cross cutter straight into storm bringer
If done correctly the projectile will become unblockable
And that’s the end of that Complety unavoidable and extremaly annoying
my favorite kof is 98, it brought back many characters from previous kofs along with old bgms that were redone.
i kinda like 99 for some reason, probably because it brought something new to the series (strikers) even though i hardly used them.
yep the 99 is my favorite.i don’t know why but i did have a lot of fun when i played it…i loved the kyo kusanagi in it.i don’t see why they changed him after.the 63214k and the super 236236p were exellent.loooooolll.
Yes, those moves kicked ass and should have been in more of the games. And I liked Kyo’s NESTS Saga look (White coat) The best. lol
