It most always can translate to ânot hitâ.
In the majority of instances it describes an attack executing and animating through its hit frames, but it doesnât hit. (punish the whiff/your invincibility will make it whiff/whiff a ducking strong punch to build meter/etc)
There are more precise terms for the other instances when you purposefully âwhiffâ a move while incorporating another technique alongside.
