I’ve often thought about what would happen if Arranged Mode was made standard, and if it would actually breathe life back into the KOF XI scene, and came to the following conclusions:
–Most of the balance changes don’t make any sense
–Too many interesting characters were raped for no good reason (K’, Duck)
–For the most part, the balance changes went the lazy-ass Capcom route of just nerfing anything and anyone who was really good instead of buffing the weaker characters (e.g. taking Ultimate Juggles COMPLETELY OUT OF THE GAME, instead working to balance them or give every character one)
–Most of the old KOF fans who hated KOF XI, hated for (petty) reasons other than balance. “Balancing” KOF XI won’t make them like the game any more
–Most of the people who complained that “KGO run the game” never really played the game at any high level, and they’re not going to start now
–KOF 98UM and KOF 2002UM are “newer” and much more popular now. There really isn’t a way to spark interest in the game in America at the moment aside from Atomiswave Emulation.
So for all these reasons, I think debating “What If” with KOF XI arranged is pretty pointless.
arranged mode sucks… characters got nerfed… i don’t want no nerfs… just want kof xi um with every character that ever exited in kof… eg… bring back yamazaki, daimon, leona, orochi team make weaker characters better …no need nerfing kgo… every fg needs its top tiers…
KGO probably needed to be nerfed a little. Just not whole castration like they did. I think with KOF XI UM, with enough time, they’d be able to completely get it right. I just hope that they don’t use Arranged XI as a base.
The Arranged PS2 version of KOF 2003 was actually a significant improvement over the arcade 2003. Which is why I’m so disappointed that the Arranged XI was so half-assed.
I guess it might be easier to improve something that’s terrible over something that is close to being truly great.
we all know that kof xii looks fucking awesome… it’s the prettiest looking 2D fighter to have ever exited as of yet… but it’s also one of the worst kof ever… 94 & 95 doesn’t count don’t get me wrong… i love CCs and think that “the idea …not nearly as good” 97/98 ish feel to the game is awesome but after playing xi and watching 2k2 u gotta ask yourself “what the hell was snk thinking???” first of all the system has too little to offer a complex gameplay… sure kof ain’t as complex as GG or BB but less complex than SF4??? that’s just sad… and some of the cast is not even close to being finished… cough …clark after releasing such an awesome game like kof xi, they waste their money and more importantly our money to give us an unfinished kof… but most important fuck up to me is how they nerfed the grapplers… i liked the game at first till i realised clark doesn’t play the same… a damn jab beats SAB… that did it for me… i rather play 97/XI anyday…
better smarten up and scrap kof xii and work on making the best kof ever… kof xi: um
I think they dicked most of the characters as far as special moves and supers. I mean three special moves per character and one super wtf save for a couple chars. What’s up with that stupid fucking over exaggerated sf alpha look also!Clark and ralf look fucking retarded like carl from the aqua teens movie.
