What do you truly hate about ssf4ae2012?

That Capcom had about 10 years to think about how to improve upon ST and 3S and this is what came out.

Everyone complains about vortex, but it’s not about just the vortex. ST Hawk has an amazing “vortex” (actually more like a TOD loop), but it’s 1. very hard to initiate and 2. hard to continue. If 2012 vortex characters were limited like that, the complaints would be far fewer.

Edit: Anyways, I think 2012 is great. It’s SF4 in general that’s flawed. Easy reversal FADC ultra leaves a lot of new players salty, unless they play a braindead vortex character that’s safe to that shit. If you don’t have either one, then the learning curve is pretty steep.

Honestly speaking, I think SSF4 AE is one of the best Fighting Games I’ve ever played. 39 characters (Definitely one of the best selections you’ll find in any Street Fighter Game in existence), game is pretty balanced, great online modes, great replay channel features, lots of alternate costumes, etc. That doesn’t go without saying that there aren’t some things in the game that are pretty aggravating or stupid.

Why is Ibuki’s Kunai and Cody’s Knife the ONLY 2 " projectiles " in the game that projectile invincibility moves are useless against? Technically speaking, Ibuki’s Kunai and Cody’s Knife are considered a physical hitbox (Which explains why you can stuff them) rather then a projectile. Idk why they made it like this. I guess it’s because these " projectiles " are weapons while every other projectile in the game is energy-based? Weird.

This game has some really weird hitboxes. There are many characters who have combos that are really character specific and it’s all because of weird hitboxes. Some combos will work on some characters but won’t work on others. They should really fix this.

I felt similarly for a long time. I still don’t really “like” them, but I’m not nearly as against them as before. If anything, they just give you one more opportunity to blow up weak players that you know are going to use them at the wrong times. In general though, AE seems the closest to a balanced SF4 that there’s ever been, despite some stupidness with Viper and Seth.

if super arts were implemented, all rush down characters will be op

The kids.

People still dont play with Dudley even though he’s top 15.

You mean, the success that is SF4, a game that practically resuscitated the FG scene ? Hmm, I’d say, not bad.

People often forget that old FGs had their own share of faults. I mean, let’s take SF2. This game had one character banned, and another one soft banned in Japan. Plus, some matches were horribly one sided: Ryu vs honda, Zangief vs Dhalsim or Gief vs guile, to name a few.
Add the 50% combos and the infamous TOD.
And 3S ? Let’s just say that between 2003-2008, Evo top 8 for SF3S was dominated by 3 characters: Chun, yun and Ken. Specifically:

  • Chun Li: 40%
  • Yun: 20%
  • Ken: 20%
  • Alex, Makoto, Dudley, Urien, Necro, Ryu, Akuma: 20%
  • Other 9 characters (half of the cast): never.
3S and balanced doesn’t work well in the same sentence.

Mash SRK.
Short cut commands should be OPTIONAL because…
It fucks up the ultra motions by making it inconsistent. Meaning Bison’s U1 has the same motion but more lenient input than Vega’s U2. Same with Guile’s U1 vs Vega’s U1. Its fucking retarded beyond belief.

Threads like this.
Why is this still open?

The game brought in thousands of shitty players when we already had hundreds of skilled players. Fuck your numbers and your couch. You don’t know shit. As for 3s @ evo. Japan won Evo every time and only because they had so much more exposure to excellent competition. It had little to do with Ken, Yun and Chun and more to do with their exposure to the players that were placing. Go play some more SF4.

I love this game basically.
The only things I hate are seth, viper, fuerte, abel to a certain extent, and cody. Cody doesn’t get the hate he deserves. A good one is constantly in your face, and you can’t press buttons, you can’t get rid of him, or you eat a massive combo that puts you near stun. I don’t hate him as much as the others, he’s just not fun to play against.
ONe other issue I have - it is the design of Evil Ryu and Oni. I don’t know why the fuck capcom decided to put those horrible red/blue stinklines around two characters who are already slightly stupid looking.

Just the design of Seth, Viper, and Fuerte.

They go against what SF is about. That’s the most annoying part about the game.

Congratulations this is the stupidest post in this thread.

What the fuck does this even mean?

The aspects that I find annoying about the game are:

  • The art style… does not suit me all that well, along with a handful of 3D designs.
  • Could have had a much better roster. Although, I really enjoy using characters like Viper, Seth, and many others but… Then there are some very weird character choices… Like Super Saiyan 5 Akuma. Wait, what? Oh, I mean Oni, who IS Akuma anyway. What could have been done is simply provide the regular Akuma with one of Oni’s abilities or have Ryu get one quality from E.Ryu and saved last two roster choices for characters like Q, Karin, Elena, Rolento, or Oro… seriously. But, alas, I am certainly responsible for creating the game, nor do I intend to hurt anyone else’s opinion on the matter. It just seems as if… freakin’ Win Mugen was made into a official video game, and I hate the thought of that so much! How many shoto’s does one actually need anyhow?
  • Ultras in general. If I were in charge I would simply make it so that the characters Ultra will be available in the Super Meter is completely filled. The Supers themselves would take two gauge segments, and Focus Cancel/FADC would also still take two bar segments. Focus Attacks would also play a much relevant role in filling the meter as well.
  • Speaking of Ultra’s, the game itself tends to appeal to casual players in the worse way possible.

Enlighten me, please.

What is Street Fighter ‘all about’?

I don’t know, ask ST Claw.
