Not really a GD thing but a site thing overall. Make quotes stand out more.
Like if I do:

It’s very difficult to tell which is what, maybe add an extra white and dark theme. For example, for white (default) theme, make the background fill color that is gray a little more dark to separate it more from the white background color.
For now I’m just making several posts back to back instead of multiquoting.
Anything involving a time machine is out of the question, right?
Nevermind GD, what about all of the SRK forums? Can we get the option for “SRK Classic” mode?
Can we at least get likes, lol, and disagrees back? Just because idiots were flag-bombing doesn’t mean take EVERYTHING but quotes away. Just remove flags. Really, nobody should have to be told this. That should have been the next logical step before just tossing the baby out with the bathwater.
I agree with this. Making bans in effect for people flag bombing is a better idea I think. Plus, the Like system was pretty fun and probably made the site less cluttered with people quoting a post just to say something to the effect of “I agree/disagree/lol”
yes ban the flag bombers! i should just have to agree with DoctaMario here but I’m forced to post the same thing, redundant!
Yeah, I mean there could be a little confusion with people who constantly post stuff that could be either trolling or really stupid (eg. Beguiled, Btierbannedboy, G3nshir0) but the way around that would be just banning the person flagging when something innocent (ie. An opinion on breakfast in a breakfast thread) is flagged.
Just ban flag bombers, jeez.
I too would like the “like” “agree” and “disagree” options, just so we know what people think about our posts. Sure, people could bomb others just for the hell of it, but a bunch of disagrees isn’t the same as a bunch of red flags. Plus, mods don’t have to overlook the amount of disagree clicks a person has.
I already made this post in the lounge, but I feel it’s better suited here and I’d actually like to see other people’s feedback on my take on this whole thing.
What I really think is dumb, is not only that a situation had to spring from this whole ordeal, but how it was handled. The way things have run their course made no sense, and half of it didn’t even need to happen. Matriarch was receiving spam from a lot of people. Ok, fine, this is clearly a violation of the basic forum rules as well as just someone’s privacy. What I fail to understand, is why now we ALL have to suffer because of the actions of a few alt accounts and mountains of spam posts.
I mean, considering the mods’ response, you’d think we were the ones spamming and harassing people. And the biggest irony, is that the people in here who were actually trying to get the attention of a mod (you know, like the system was supposedly designed for), were the ones that got yelled at. Not the spammers. Not the trolls. Not BTierBison who was obviously making spam posts for months and yet was ignored by all the people who could ACTUALLY do something about it. And literally NOTHING was being done about these types of accounts until Matriarch was affected and said something. I’m not mad at her nor do I blame her for all this crap. What upsets me is that it was a (simple) problem that no one seemed to really address until a specific poster was involved, meanwhile anyone else who said anything about it was being treated like an idiot or being called a “child”, if I remember the words correctly.
I’m no mod or admin, but really wouldn’t the simplest solution have been to just get rid of the offenders and call it a day? Yet it had to drag out and all these spam accounts were just left unchecked for absolutely no reason. I’m not entirely sure which of you guys make these decisions, but to say the least I’m very confused about the whole process and its structure.
And please, don’t get me wrong. This isn’t a rant just about the buttons getting taken away. In the end who really gives a shit. This is about trying to make the situation better, being called an idiot/child for doing so, and then taking features away from EVERYONE just for the fuck of it as some sort of punishment. The only thing this decision did is severely decrease forum functionality. Instead of addressing the issue at the root of the problem, which would have firstly been just BANNING THE SPAM ACCOUNTS AND TROLLS LIKE ALMOST EVERYONE IN GD WAS ASKING, now we have to clog up the forum even MORE just to express how we feel towards a certain post. And this is even more problematic because the buttons (outside of flagging, apparently) served a purpose.
This is supposed to be some sort of punishment, or to put it in Wiz’s words: “Reacting to our dumbness”, when in reality the whole thing was handled in the shittiest, most childish and immature way possible.
This is all nice and all but its stuff for the admins, there’s nothing mods can do about this.
I know, I know. I didn’t know when I originally made the post though. Mods don’t have as much influence when compared to the admins as I thought.
I’m just trying to cleanly express why I think this whole outcome is dumb.
agree insightful like
Here’s something funny: say you agree with a post. Mods used to be pissy about people just quoting said post and replying with simply “This”…now that they’ve taken our ability to express agreement without actually spending time to make a drawn-out post…here we are again. Srk history, much like human history, is simply a repeating cycle, apparently.
nice to seem them back!
In any case, here are the new rules regarding flag bombing or any abuse of the reaction system from the great lover of McRibs himself.
All mods: Any abuse of the reaction system, needs to be punished. First warning=7 days jail. Second Warning=banned.
I was gonna flag devs post but I think hes the mean mod who will probably skip first warning tbh
