What do you consider dedication to fighting games?

Also practice…

If you believe that, you must not live a high-caliber life…

Doing big road time for tournaments = serious dedication.

Everybody has their own limit. Some people log some jaw-dropping hours, to a point I personally would consider dangerous. That’s probably the thing I actually hated the worst about competing. This is probably more accentuated in the Atlantic South, where things are more spread out.

I’m glad you brought up #2. I think that’s a point not enough people consider.

Without a scene and healthy competition, all the dedication in the world is pointless. The community surrounding the game is just as important as the game itself.

practice and more practice…

Sacrificing having a wife, kids, and a family ever in my life (if it happens it happens but its out of the picture) to pursue World Champion like myself is what I call DEDICATION.

playing games is fine and all i mean i wanna make money so i could buy more and play more games.
but
at the end of the day.
i want some pussy

Well me too but having a wife and kids interferes with my travelling so thats out of the picture right now…

Buying every fighting game that comes out in the U.S.

Going out and finding people that play, help the scene to grow as well as keeping it alive.

Competing in and attending every tournament in your area.

Still playing after 15+ years?

using an arcade stick. (for most traditional fighters, i guess)

have a fighting game collection, discussing fighting games and tips/strategies on srk.com, meet people to play, have arcade sticks, watch match vids for things to steal, practice all day on training mode and just play fighting games.

If I can find a woman (Hispanic) that can support me with what I want to accomplish then thats fine…but I dont see that happening so thats why its ruled out.

Most women don’t understand it…

Therefore I dont have the time nor the patience to explain it to them…I’d rather go at it alone

Matter of fact to all women I encounter if they enter my room I give them a foreboding warning-

“See all this on my walls and around…if you dont like it, think its nerdy or wanna replace it ***YOU CAN GET THE FUCK OUT NOW AND NEVER COME BACK!!!***”

I always tell them also that “My games will always be greater than you! Sorry! :lovin:”

There are girls that play fighters you know. I know of at least 4 on kaillera. They don’t really like being hit on though.

Yeah I know but I also don’t know if it’s worth my time to even waste my time looking for someone that will understand…

The way I see it is that this is taking time away from other things I could be doing…

So yeah it’s not a priority never has been…

In short…Having sex with women and being with a life partner are two separate things. Like most guys sure I love the pussy…**but thats where it ends…
**
I don’t want anything interfering with my travelling and Grad School.

Sure now once I get my Masters degree things are open to change…but until then not really…unless once again she will not nag me to spend time with her all the time…if so SHE’S GOTTA GO. :annoy:

To me Grad School +Gaming= Far greater than Pussy.

Hell fucking yeah! Getting your gas raped in turn to play Street Fighter is the ultimate sacrifice in dedication.

That and spending over $200 on a custom stick just to play fighters instead of spending $200 on your electric bill/car/house/etc

Learning when to stop playing when you’ve gotten your ass handed to you more than X number of times in a row. :D…My X number is 10…once I get beaten 10 times in a row…I grab a chair, take a breather, and analyze what the heck I’ve been doing wrong.

If the person is still there after I take the breather…I will play them again…and if Im still getting beaten…I will admit the person is better than me and train harder to get better.

I guess this goes under getting over your own ego. :stuck_out_tongue:

Im Guilty of this one. :wgrin:

Then we have a nice little arcade stick, playing SF3 in our nice little cardboard box house…
