Sorry if this has been asked before, but what colour is the bezel on the original TE arcade stick… Red or Vermillion?
Red to my understanding. The Vermillion is like a Reddish orange…
It’s Red.
Definitely not Vermillion.
I have two Mad Catz TE R1’s staring at me…
One thing, though, is that every company’s definition of what red “is” differs. Even within button lines, there can be huge differences. Pearl button shades are nothing like the rest of Seimitsu’s button offerings!
Seimitsu Red is more like Sanwa Vermillion. Hori’s definition of red is close to Sanwa’s and I defy anybody to put a Tekken 5 (American) Hori balltop by a Sanwa Red Balltop and tell me the shades are that much different… Likewise, Hori was able to match up its Vermillion buttons in the HRAP fairly close to Sanwa’s Vermillion balltop on the same joystick. Where I have found differences between Hori and Sanwa is in their definition of “light blue.” Sanwa “light blue” is darker than Hori’s “light blue.”
You definitely see very noticeable differences in colors/shades if you mix and match Sanwa and Seimitsu parts. The Seimitsu Pearl buttons, for sure, are not close in color to anything you can think of. The Red Pearl button is more of a medium dark pink shade than red… That’s part of why those buttons are notoriously hard to color-coordinate with artwork.
Thanks GeorgeC. i was going to into detail but had no facts and examples off hand to back. nice info btw
You’re welcome!
Like clothing, you have to pick and compare part colors.
(… AND if you don’t try on clothing, you’re generally setting yourself up for an “epic fail” because sizes are different between companies. Also, within a single pants company, relaxed fit pants can be different from other pant lines by as much as a size or two for the same person.)
There’s just no consistency between different lines. Simple as that… You have to look at what’s available and choose what you like.
I happen to like the sensitivity of Sanwa buttons better than the majority of the Seimitsu line so I’m forced to work within those constraints. It drives me nuts sometimes because I know the other company sometimes has colors and options I can’t get with the Sanwa line. (Big problem with Sanwa: they don’t make their 24mm sizes and screw-ons in as many color options as their main 30mm plug-in button line. Huge, huge deal for those of us that want a color that ISN’T available in 24mm size!) I don’t mix and match 30mm buttons cross-company because that would affect gameplay. On the other hand, I’m not adverse to getting 24mm Seimitsu because A) you don’t use those during gameplay; and B) they’re hardly going to get used besides Start and Pause (on a few selected games) and, again, that doesn’t impact gameplay.
thanks guys I was going to buy a red bezel and a few other bits & bobs off the gameshark site (dust/shaft covers)…but it turns out they won’t ship to the uk
