Some of my other favorite fighting games (that I didn’t mention last time) are:

Capcom vs SNK 2
This game is still one of the best cross overs ever made to me. There was a decent cast of characters presented (though was still just SF and KOF mostly) and lots of variety. I loved that you could use whatever Groove you wanted to use and increased the variety even more. I might say the Gamecube/Xbox version might be a little bit better as they made P-Groove actually worth using.

TMNT Tournament Fighters (SNES)
This is definitely one of the best 2D fighters made, especially on the SNES. The game controlled very well and there was a diverse set of characters. It is so simple to get into with the moves being easy to do (heck even the supers only use 2 buttons). In many cases, this is many times better than ST.

Super Street Fighter II Turbo/Hyper Street Fighter II
Even though I haven’t like this game as much as I want to at times, this is still one of the best fighting games made. Even though Sirlin tried to balance the game, to me those changes made it worse overall (heck Hyper SFII is better in this regard). The original is still the best since we can use old and new characters, and game is just great. Now if only I can get the Dreamcast version, then I’ll be all set for my ST fix.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Fighting Edition (SNES)
Nope, I’m not joking at all. This is a really good fighting game based on PR. I liked how the energy meter worked here, do a special move when the meter is full and you do a enhanced version. Do it 3 times and you can do infinite enhanced special moves for a limited time or use all the energy to do your characters super.

Gundam Wing: Endless Duel (SNES)
Very solid fighter made by the same time that made the Power Rangers fighter above. Small cast like its predecessor, bit very diverse. Using your boosters to move is important in this game.

Gundam Battle Assault 2 (PS1)****
This game came out late in the PS1’s life span and served to promote the USA release of G Gundam (one of my fav Gundam series ^_^), However, this is a kick ass fighting game. They fixed all the problems of the first game (3rd really) and made the game better. We have a diverse cast of characters from the Universal Century, Wing universe, and G Gundam universe. I like how you have everything you need at the start of the match, so you can potential do some sweet damage.

Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
It took me a while to like it, but when I did, UMK3 is a solid fighting game. I like how your run meter is used to measure what you can or can’t do.

Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe
After the huge disaster that was MK Armageddon, MKvsDCU is a HUGE improvement and was a good step in the right direction. The characters are diverse and play differently enough. Although the jump attacks are the same for all characters, it is good to have both a punch and kick jump attack. The rage meter was well handled. Either save for combo breakers or use all at once to enter Rage mode to enhance the characters. At first I thought the control skim was all over the place, but I then realized that you only need at most 6 buttons. There are only really 2 negatives for this game: the fatalities were not as good and the way pro moves (ex special move) was handled.

Mortal Kombat 9
Taking all the things that MKvsDCU left off, MK9 made lots of improvements that made sense. The energy meter is simple but effective. Either save for Enhanced Special Moves, Combo Breakers, or the X-Ray (super). All the characters play different from another. I like that dashing is used well in this game and sometimes I think this is what FADC should have been.

Psychic Force 2012
This is a very interesting fighting game, part shooter, part fighter. The things important in this game are distant, projectiles, and meter management. When you get damaged, you get more meter to mess with. You can even increase your power and gain more meter, but sacrifices your health.

Shijou Saikyo no Deishi Kenichi Gekitou! Ragnarok Hachikengo
This game is made by both Capcom and Eighting. Decent sized roster and the game system is pretty solid. Choose from either a Power style that focuses on combos or a Defensive style that focuses on defensive techniques. Game has a solid Parry system that is simple and rewarding (kinda works like DOA counters, but better).

Super Smash Bros./Melee/Brawl
I do like this series very much, especially for its platformer nature. The first 2 games are still the best ones I would say, especially since they have good hit stun system. The fact you can customize your matches is what draws me in.

Power Stone
The sequel was also good, but the original still kicks ass. To play this game well you need to understand one thing, use your environment to your advantage. That way you can get all 3 power stones and dominate.

Tekken Tag Tournament
This is definitely one of my favorite Tekken games as they collected all the characters (of that time) into 1 game. The tag mechanic alone really adds to the game. Plus Tekken Bowl is still an awesome game to play. Can’t wait for Tekken Tag Tournament 2!

Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure Heritage for the Future
This fighter (based on manga roughly the same name) is so great and very unique. The stand button alone makes all the characters play completely different from another. This game feels like Vampire Savior mixed with Guilty Gear XX Accent Core and I like it.

Street Figther II Turbo: Hyper Fighting
Of the SFII games that don’t have a super meter, SFIIT is the best one there is. All the characters (including the bosses) got changes to balance everything. Pure Classic here.

This should be fine for now. I haven’t even gotten into the Doujin/homebrew fighters yet ^_^!

Blazblue Continuum Shift (including CS2 and EX). I love the characters, music, stages. I REALLY like how it has a fully voiced story mode too. The game just truly feels complete

Tekken 3, Blood Roar, Budokai 3, Tekken 5 and 6, Soul Calibur 2 and 4, MvC3

cvs2 - This is the game that got me back into fighting games. I have a lot of fond memories playing this game at the arcade. My initial thought process when I first saw it was, “Wow, cool! Art of Fighting characters going against Street Fighter characters…Godlike!!”

mvc2- I got insanely addicted to this game. Probably the only real game that I went real deep in.

3s - I really like the parrying feature and the diversity in strategies.

SC2 / SC3 - I always had a lot of fun playing Soul Calibur,soul blade, etc.

Tekken 6 - The first Tekken game that I made an honest attempt to play competitively.

honorable mentions: killer instinct, primal rage, MKI - MKIII, virtua fighter 1 -3

and of course shaq-fu

-Street Fighter Alpha 3 for nostalgia reasons
-Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution, close to perfection imho
-Guilty Gear XX AC had good times with friends playing the game, though I hated playing Slayer as a Millia player…
-SF2CE good memories when I was young

VF1,VF2,VF3,Last Bronx,GWED,DBZ Hyper Dimension,Powerstone & KOF99 were fighting games I played alone with the CPU and had a lot of fun lol.

me too, lol
as a honest fg, hyper fighting is the top for me. The game really deserves to be called a real time strategy
alpha 3, cvs2 and mbaa are special for me too. Learned almost everything about other games mechanics just playing those 3…
kof 97 and gg are games that really involved me because of the story mode

my favorite fighting games are…

lists every single fighting game I own

Melty Blood-Feels so right, every character is just so right, besides Nanaya, that broken mother fucker, and Aoko, that Oki monster, seriously, no one should have that good of an oki game.

DarkStalkers-I don’t give a fuck how bottom tier my Lilith is, I go In. Dat. Ass.

BB/GG-I don’t care how ‘divided’ the base is, I like both equally. (Okay, well, BB gets the edge for not being full of infinite bullshit like GG)

Street Fighter-Hate to say it, but 4 is my favourite, 3 can go suck a dick (The bullshit that is parry), 2’s random stun and damage calculator make me too salty.

Garou-If I played more, I would probably like it more.

KOF-Everything after 98, (not including 13) why do you exist?

Notable list of cannon fodder-AH3, TMNT, Gundam, Alpha series, EX series, Tekken.

Most notable favourites in alphabetical order:

BlazBlue: Continuum Shift
Calamity Trigger was my first real foray into fighting games, so I feel obligated to mention BlazBlue. BB:CS is improved from CT, so I mention it here instead. :3
… and mmm, the soundtrack, graphics and characters are delicious.

Melty Blood Actress Again Current Code
This game has everything. I love the pacing, movement, grooves, combos, characters, soundtrack, parries, meter options, and pretty much anything else. The game feels so fluid, so free-form. I haven’t played many actual matches yet, but this game is already one of my favourites. My favourite game in terms of design.

Super Street Fighter II Turbo
You already know how this game is. It’s the most pure and honest, traditional fighting game, next to Hyper Fighting.

Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition
No other game pisses me off as much as this game, but I still enjoy it. Ultras are a silly mechanic and characters like Seth and Viper are ridiculous, but the game is fun enough for me to overlook these things.

Other favourites:

CvS2, KoF2k2UM, MoTW, GGXXAC, SSBM, (lol)SSBB, Tekken 6 and Bushido Blade 2 :).

MvC, MvC2, MvC3, Alpha 3, ST, MSHvSF, Vanilla SF4… now I’m trying to find some way to get a copy of CvS2 because I know I’ve been missing out all this time. probably gonna get SFxT because I wanna try out Ibuki and Rolento.

all this Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom love makes me warm inside!

We need to play some of these. I don’t have GBA2 anymore though. Do you?

probably turbo

3rd Strike, Darkstalkers, MVC2, CVS2, VF4, and how about this: Fighter’s Destiny for the N64. Surprisingly good. If the stages were larger, the “1pt for ringout/1pt for successful throw/2 for KO/3 for ult KO first to ___ pts wins” concept would be used a lot more. Even as it stands it’s really good especially considering when it was made and the fact that the N64 was not much of a fighting game system.

Star Gladiator

been lovin myself some darkstalkers chronicles on psp (which is the first 3) recently

I totally forgot about Real bout 2, one of best Fatal Fury games.

EDIT: and Last Blade 2, <3 Hibiki and Akari

three ess.

plenty of games i enjoy but ‘favorite’ isn’t something i pluralize.

VSav is my favorite by far, but I enjoy pretty much all 2D fighters.
