as far as particular songs go, i’ve been quite fond of two as of lately:

twin shadow’s “i can’t wait” which has a very 80s new wave feel to it, but with a modern day band.

monuments’ newest track “doxa” which brings that tasty progressive, groove.

and as far as ALBUMS go, i have been really into:
sigur ros - valtari (incredible experimental/post-rock/ambient band from sweden)
the contortionist - instrinsic (awesome progressive metal record and awesome band to see live which of whom i’m seeing for the fourth time on 29th, just a couple days after the summer slaughter tour)
purity ring - shrines (catchy as fuck dream pop with female vocals)

besides the twin shadows song (which came out last year) all of this is new 2012 material.
