yeah they are pretty ugly and bulky, looks like a desk with a monitor and a control panel.
So far the ones I’ve seen in person are the Namco noir, the old delta 32, New delta 32s, Vewlix L and Vewlix F.
In terms of of looks wise the Namco Noir take the ugly cake.
The Old delta 32 look like a tank…It HUGE!!
The New Delta is alright I guess.
The Vewlix L & F, the best looking HD cabs and the most comfortable. They both look identical just different colors, I think the blazblue edition color looks the best though.
Hey that pic of the namco noir HD is mine … I love this cabinet, does full 1080p. Mine is a chinese knockoff, but i believe the original only does 720p so im happy.
Yeah i like the viewlix just a tad more than my namco noir, but for what i paid for the noir shipped would have alot of you freaking out at how cheap it was.
Ive been planning a sort of custom Vewlix. But I think im going to switch the plans to a custom Delta 32. That design is sweet, and I wanted something where I can always upgrade or downgrade and Tate the TV easily.
I want to make it tall enough so you can stand or sit, and a few other different things. Time to get working on the design.
On the 1st page I gave some impressions I have on the LCDs cabinets.
The reason that I believe the Vewlix cabs are superior is due to there build quality compare to the newer generation cabs & even to the older generation CRT cabs.
The old Delta cabinets are big and bulky for a newer cabs and having a monitor that lags doesn’t help.
The New delta 32 cabs is also big and bulky. Unless you are a shmups fan, there’s no reason really to have the screen rotate. Because of the rotating mechanism…instead of making it look like a Arcade cabinet …the units ends up looking like a table with a monitor attach to it.
I dont want to say anything bad about the Noir anymore cause someone actually has one over here,…
This is exactly what I was debating when I was thinking about making a custom arcade cabinet. I was initially leaning towards the Sega Lindbergh or Delta32 simply because it was easy to implement a fixed rotating mount. I ended up deciding against them because it did just look like a table with a monitor attached.
I got mine new for $1800 shipped to NY, I imagine he payed in the same ballpark.
When you can get 2-3 per cost of 1 viewlix the marginal differences aren’t worth the premium. Granted they don’t look as nice, but like any line of cabs consistency is more attractive than variety.
