I only need to know setups to do safe jumps vs 3 frame wakeup dp’s (ryu, ken, akuma… etc).
SAFE JUMP SETUPS, NOT OPTION SELECTS. I already know how to do option selects.

You can’t safe jump 3 frame DPs if you do an attack in your jump, but to safe jump them you can just do regular safe jump timing but do an empty jump instead.
Edit:Unless you are talking about a non-traditional safe jump? Like one that will make DPs whiff and such?
Reset bro with knockdown. Walk forward or space.
Thanks, That’s all I needed to know.
I would like to know some of th setups that make dp whiff, I think one is forward throw backstep whiff mp jump lk?
Ryu doesn’t seem to have any “easy” setups for safejumping dps. I’ve pretty much learned to manually time my jumps after a knockdown; depending on the spacing, you can avoid dps with crossup tatsu or crossup lk. I’m pretty sure j.hp has some potential for beating dps in some situations as well, since its hitbox is godlike, but I wouldn’t rely on it. Maybe if your opponent is using lp dp for some reason.
Once you show your opponent that you can bait his dps with jumps, you can start doing unsafe jumps and go for ambiguous crossup mixups with j.mk/j.hp/j.lk
Well I listed this one in the Q&A thread I think but yesterday I found an unblockabe that will hit early DPs from behind, and if they do it a bit later they will whiff but it can be auto-correct DP’d.You do forward throw at midscreen, step back about one set of small squares in the training room, whiff s.MP then jump in with MK.It is unblockable on Ryu,Ken,Akuma,Oni,M.Bison,Guy,E.Ryu,Rufus,and Adon.
I was also working on another where you forward throw,Whiff s.HK and jump in with HK.It is a corner only setup, very ambiguous and makes DPs whiff,I havent tested everyone yet but so far I know it works on the shotos excluding dan.
Against Abel in the corner, forward throw walk back a very tiny step , whiff c.mk , jump hp.
First hit on the front but you cross up and they have to block the other way. Ive try to EX TT it
and it does seem very hard or impossible.
Ive learn it from the Naruo Ryu vs Nekojita Abel match. Sometime he do the same set up but jump
in with mk.
I dont know if this sep up work on other character.
In the Topenga league Daigo Ryu vs Cody Momochi, in the corner
he goes for the foward throw , s.hk jump hk set up.
He did a Srk rigth after, dont know if it a missed option select or he think
the jump hk was unblockable.
Yeah that setup you saw against Abel is amazing. It actually can cross up like that against a lot of characters, but it is extremely ambiguous against Abel.
It is also a safe jump against almost every 3 frame uppercut. Don’t try it against characters like Seth who have amazing hitboxes on their uppercuts though, you will get hit out every time.
It really is an amazing set up and you can probably add an option select throw to take care of EX roll and Abel really has to see the frame to block the right way after. Safe jump againt 3 frame uppercut nice, I will try this.
Ive learn a lot watching Naruo how to play the match up, Abel has always been a tough cookie for me.
After a Sweep he will go for a safe jump when Abel has no ex bar. Otherwise he will simply dash after sweep.
From a foward throw he walk back a tiny step and goes for a cross up. Nekojita never bother try to EX TT it and usually
EX roll out of it.
From the ground after knockdown he mix up between grab to beat EX TT and EX tatsu , neutral jump or simply walking back out
of range of TT.
He usually space just outside of f+mk range. Ive try this range in my recent match and I feel more confortable. I think I was trying to fight Abel from too far.
Naruo Ryu is really interesting to watch clearly the best for me after Daigo from what Ive seen.
Ryu has at least two midscreen setups to beat 3f DPs or make them whiff. One is f.throw, slight step back, wait a bit then j.lk or j.mk (j.hp works vs Akuma). Another is b.throw, walk forward until your feet just about touches their hands then j.lk. Unblockable against shotos, but they can duck it. You can mix it up though.
do you whiff crouching medium kick or close medium kick?
You whiff crouching medium kick
From forward throw you can do backdash, immediate jump then late HK tatsu. Crosses up and also beats out most reversals. You have to time the tatsu quite specifically though.
I do not understand
