I am thoroughly disappointed in this as team Nor Cal 3 asked Kai about this raffle before we had to leave. He told us that the raffle would be done later and winners would be contacted. I am also disappointed that Eric Choi was not told about his free TE stick before leaving. I’m sure Markman would not appreciate his donations to this event being randomly given away in a format not approved by him and sticks intended for specific people not to be issued to them. I am sure you will personally make sure Eric Choi gets his stick.
I’m actually in great surprise that nobody is as shocked and disappointed in how you handled the raffle situation as i am; and you seem to not really care about it. I’m sure I am misinterpreting what you are saying and you care a great deal how business should be handled, dealing with so much money running these events. It would be a shame if incidents like this tainted the image of such a great event.
I am 100% positive that if the raffle had occurred, I would have won. So shout out first and foremost to Miss Imoan. Hahahaha!
And this goes without saying, buyt I’ll say it anyhow: HUGE Shout outs to John Rog and Kai and Gootecks for throwing a super event. Much smoother and much more awesome than the first event, so I think we can expect GREAT THINGS from WCW3.

All the prizes going towards the raffle, save 4 Madcatz sticks, were purchased by myself. The Xbox, PS3, monitor, etc were not donated. However, I am sorry we didn’t get to the raffle as intended, and there was a breakdown in communication since I didn’t tell Kai I was doing this. I thought it would end up being more of problem doing the drawing off site, getting contact information from the hotel about room renters (if they would even do this), and then contacting them for the prizes. It was a heat of the moment call, and I’m sorry if anyone got offended by it.
The top 8 of SF4 got TE sticks from Madcatz. If Eric Choi missed his, I will absolutely ship it out to him ASAP. If anyone can get him to PM me about it, I will make sure to ship out his stick.
Honestly it sounds like it was really poorly handled if that’s really what happened. I encountered a similar situation running a DDR (please don’t laugh) tournament years ago. We had dance pads and random shit to give away but we totally forgot about it. We did the raffle near the end and anyone who wasn’t there we just shipped the prizes to later. I didn’t even know about the raffle until I read this thread, so I’m kinda indifferent; just trying to offer my advice if it’s possible to salvage the situation.
Also, I think it’s cool how WCW doesn’t have top 8 start at like 9am and shit, but starting at 4pm? Way late. I mean checkout was at noon… my group had from noon to 5ish pm to just hang out at the hotel… seemed like a waste of time. As a result the tournament ended super late too. Evo, for example, starts their stuff pretty early and people always bitch about it, but as a result they’re able to run shit very close to schedule. Is there a reason you guys scheduled top 8 to start so late?

I personally enjoyed WCW2. The venue was awesome, and I actually liked waking up at 4pm for my first finals. I think the only negative experience I had was that dumb earthquake shit. But other than that, I will be at the next WCW3

A lot of folk expressed their need to go to Church in the morning for Easter, but that they would come back after. We started at 3:00pm on the dot as we mentioned in our schedule, and people were able to watch all of the finals.

Like I said I’m all for not having finals at the crack of dawn. I guess it makes sense why the choice to start at 3 was made, but what I meant is that if you start a tournament at 3pm and it ends at midnight, it makes it very difficult for out-of-towners to stick around. Rom and I came down with the intentions of watching top 16 SFIV (especially since he almost made top 16) but weren’t able to because it ran past schedule.

Oh absolutely. If not for Easter, we would have started at 12 or 1. Yeah, we weren’t sure how long each top 8 would run. If everyone wasn’t so damn good and always made it to last round last game, we would have been better.
WCWZ 2 was amazing. I had so much fun this weekend, I’m glad I made the trip down from NorCal
