Wesker mixup/reset setups

<3

Seriously, I’ve been using him like I used Haggar towards the end of Vanilla. I can’t really pull off any Strider combos at all, but half the time I do better than I do with my main team just because of how dirty Wesker becomes with that assist. You don’t even have to have any scripted resets in mind, at the end of a combo just call Strider and do whatever the fuck with Wesker, and bam, reset.

Yeah Vajra is almost identical to vanilla haggar assist (for resets anyway), I didn’t end up sticking with him since he didnt add anything to nova on my main team. Went back to hawkeye. The resets are way less easy mode :frowning:

Anyone got any good Gun Loop setups midscreen and corner?

Ive been testing Slant Shot assist after gun shot, i think i not doing it right cause im not getting a reset.

Despite that, do you have any scripted resets? I was thinking of trying a Wesker Doom Strider kinda thing. Should something like, post combo, call Vajra, gun shot ~ H teleport work? Guess I’ll see. I know this duo is tricky shit, I’d just like to abuse that fact to the fullest!

It will work, but only at the towards the end of an extended combo where they are going to pop-out and reset very early. Although I imagine you can just alter the timing. It’s very similar to some of the shenanigans you can pull with Dante and his teleport mid combo.

just sharing this corner crossup setup

I kinda touched on this a while ago when dabbling in Vajra, and then got sidetracked team-wise. But for now I’m dedicating to Wesker Doom Strider (creative, I know), and wanted to see if anyone has some nasty Vajra-Wesker tricks. I’m sure a lot of it is about finding ways to switch sides right before one drops, but any kind of fun still like the above mentioned post-gunshot jump normal+Vajra xx teleport, etc. I’d watch some Padtrick stuff, but am w/o internet at home and cant watch vids at work : / Oh well  Any thoughts?

I have a friend who runs that team, it’s a simple team but the most effective team for point Wesker and helps him in a lot of his problem matchups. Some resets I see him do are, after gunshot reset. Dash under and just mash wave dash + Meaty Vajra for the 50/50 Left/Right there, if they block and they land you get a command grab setup or crL on either side setup, if they pushblock Vajra you get an air throw setup or jump loop setup, and if they get hit you get a full confirm you can also do various other 50/50s if they block or pushblock, be creative with your stuff with Vajra. You can also do simple meaty Vajra on incoming with Wesker JM xx teleport H or L for the 50/50 or do the same as the gunshot setup with meaty vajra + dash unders into the same resets.

Would some of the Viscant Wesker/Haggar resets work using Dormmamu dark hole instead of lariat?

This thread is sadly pretty dead, but wondered if anyone had any fun stuff to share with Rapid Slash assist.

I’m a take a guess with the Rapid Slash and say that you could horizontal gun + assist into a mixup with Vergil. Unfortunately, Vergil himself can blow this up (along with Sentinel limbs, Taskmaster, Hulk st. :h:, disjointed normals, armored normals, invincible moves)

Also, at the end of a Wesker combo (be it Fisher Price combo, or something like the Maximum Wesker vids) you can call assist + OTG Samurai Edge to force a throw mixup, a reset with st. :l: into a jump loop, or reset into an air grab. This also can work with a snap-back as a snap-back combo

A lot of time has passed, and Wesker sure has fallen. It is my belief that Wesker is a more potent point character then just an OTG assist/anchor.
With assists properly backing him, he has a lot of freedom in movement. But a problem is that he is a weak high-low and right-left mixups. His teleports are just too linear; you can judge from the relative distances if it will cross-up or not. But fortunately his offensive mixups are just part of his capability.
I think that people neglect the fact that Wesker has command grab and a counter.
Somewhat recently, Yipes has shown how good his command grab is. It’s 1 frame, untechable, leads to a full combo, and ends in another set-up.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone use his counters. It does seem a little risky, but it adds to the mind games. You could make assumptions like doing the high counter when they’re in the air or the low counter when you’re in a crouching face off. Unfortunately, his counter hyper has a lot of start-up (unlike Taskmaster’s), but you do get a nice extension (unlike Taskmaster’s).

Does anyone with more experience with them?

i play wesker/magneto/vergil and wesker seems to be turning into a specialist type character. i have been playing him since the beginning and i just love to use this character.

i have been using his command grabs a lot, it is pretty much my go to when it comes to his play style. i also think his projectile counter is way to underrated. i use it all the time. it is my answer to morrigans, and i have even used it when i notice a beam assist coming. i havent found a good use for his other counters though but i am working on it. right now it seems to risky.

as far as mixups, i am still working on trying to find some with my team. using strider assist with wesker makes some really hard to see mixups off of his gunshot OTG. to the point where i often miss the gunshot otg because im not sure what side i am on.

i do magneto infinites from all direction but he doesnt have superjump high hit confirms to like so many characters do.

Does anyone have some timing setups after sanp or common kills?

How do you get out of Wesker’s BS haggar based reset flow chart? Is it really just a matter of guessing correctly between assist call, air throw, or low?

And are any of his normals unsafe on block?

Hopefully people still peep these threads, but I have a quick question… at the start of most games, Unknown supers right away to get glasses off. I knew Wesk gets some boosts w/o glasses, but does anyone know concretely exactly what he’s getting that is worth paying a meter for right off the bat?

I guess, in an attempt to answer my own question, its kind of like a speed-up install super (like berzerker charge) that lasts longer. Lol. I’m just wondering if I should be starting my games like this too (especially since I also run drones). Thanks!

With Sentinal I guess it’s kinda safe also.
It pretty much makes him better character so why not. The damage boost to his combo is also nice. I think you get a little more than 150K more damage with NG combos. (Unknown usually prefer to keep the corner instead of going to maximum hits on the hyper)

Take a note that also Chris G when playing his Wesker team will do it if he think he can get away with it.

Oh, and Unknown can TAC infinite to Sentinal anywhere, so he doesn’t suffer from not having the hyper to kill that much.

That’s a good point, I never bothered to learn sent’s tac inf. I prob should, but I suck at those. Lol
