Wes Craven, Horror Maestro, Dies at 76

Damn, loved all this guy’s movies. A shame the horror thread lost a good source for discussion.

Is Red Eye worth watching?

(Not quite the thread for this, but since you asked, @locoghoul, I might as well answer.)

Meh. It’s…okay. I’d probably err on the side of saying it’s a more flawed, “bad” movie than I think it should be considering who is in it and who directed it, but it’s watchable enough.

It’s definitely one of Cillian Murphy’s weaker movies though…which reminds me I still haven’t gotten around to watching Breakfast on Pluto.

Are we seriously doing this again. This must be a white boy thing, cause howling, awl, and dog soldiers do not have good looking werewolves at all, 2 of those because of their time in history, and 1 because it was a low budget movie.

Examples below

Wait, hold on, are you arguing best looking werewolves, or stupidly arguing with me about best werewolf movies because you didnt actually read what i said?

It leans too heavy on the slasher genre, which is understandable, but there are a couple brilliant things about the first Nightmare on Elm Street. The premise of a killer/monster that stalks you in your dreams works really well not only because of creep factor, but because you set up inevitable confrontations. The more you avoid sleeping, the more tired you get, and so…

But the backstory is probably the strongest element of the movie. It’s a great premise for a teen horror movie, from the teenage protagonist’s point of view. The kids are the ones being murdered, because of something their parents did. And when they try to find out what’s going on, the parents lie to them about it, and/or don’t believe them, or are just in weird denial. There’s not just a fear of some threatening figure, but the film manages to isolate its protagonists in broad daylight in their own homes, in a town where everyone knows each other, by exploiting the mistrust of adults.

There’s a documentary on the Elm Street series called Never Sleep Again. I thought it was pretty interesting, got fairly in-depth into every movie in the series (it’s four hours long!). It’s on Hulu, streaming on Netflix, Dailymotion, YouTube etc.

Watch The People Under the Stairs.

Damn. R.I.P. Wes. Never been happier to be scared.

Never Sleep Again was really good. I turned it on for background noise while cleaning up my place and ended up not getting shit done and watching the entire thing.

Only liked the first scream
