"We're through playing around." Juri Combo Thread

Well here are some things that made it easier for me. TBH sometimes I do it too fast.

First let me say how I actually do it. Fb store. cr.MK, Fwd, release FB, fwd+MP +MK, full Ultra Motion then Buttons.(and it feels to me that I dont release the fb right away helping me time the end of the ultra input w/ the end of the dash) There is a shorcut but for me it seemed much more restrictive. I havent tested it in AE but thats how it felt to me in Super.

Now, I believe because I played Ryu and Abel before Super came out, It helped me as far as it forced me to practice certain things that for the most part Juri doesnt have to do. So these next suggestions dont necsesiraly invlove Juri but it will help IMO.

For example, one common scenario is Ryu would bait the other guy into a FB war. Then he would focus through their FB, and then ultra thru their next FB. So practice a simple dash fwd ultra. Its much slower than Juri but its the same motion(maybe you can already do this but if so read on).

The next thing to practice is Ryu’s crMK to ex FB, to Ultra. Same thing as above except you gotta be a little faster.(If you can already do this then disregard)

Now how to make yourself faster.

First one of the things I did was to double up the joystick spring to make it stiffer.(assuming you are using a joystick). It helped me in two ways. Because of these small ass sanwa sticks, it forced me to have to change the way I hold the stick(which could be another change you may need to make) I dont know if the Japanese got some small hands or these sticks are just made for kids but I pretty much had to abandon my my old street fighter grip to pretty much have my hand off the stick almost all of the time.
I probably went a little overboard and made it too stiff, but what ended up happening is it ingrained the muscle memory since I had to use a little more force to get out the motions

Now the actual speed training. I think I’ll put it in another post so this one wont be too long.

Okay the speed training. With Ryu(I know,Iknow again?) What you want to do is this little drill. Turn your inputs on.

downback +cr.MK, downfwd, downback, downfwd+punch. What you are trying to do is do the crMK first, and then the DP as a “seperate” thing. What you want to do is keep making it harder by adding another downfwd/downback before doing the DP. For example I start counting the diagonals after the MK, so downback +cr.MK, downfwd, downback, downfwd+punch. gives me a count of 3. Its not very hard

So add a 4th diagonal (and so on) "downback +cr.MK, downfwd, downback, downfwd, downback+punch. I think I was able to get to 5 and still be able to DP.
Edit: I should mention that this drill helps with the ultra motion. Its the same motion minus the fwd+KKK part. So for ultra thats where you finish istead of “down”

Another thing you can do is get a copy of the pc version and an app called Cheat engine. Cheat engine has this speedhack to where you can speed up the game. Sometimes(rarely) I use it too train my reactions. To practice speedy inputs, I put the game as twice as fast(way too fast) but what it does is it “shortens” the input window, you have to do everything faster because the game is running faster.

At twice as fast, there is no room for error. If you dont do the inputs fast you wont get an ultra. It doesnt have to be that fast thats just what I use. For example normal is “1.0” I started off at say 1.4 and just eventually moved up to 2.0.

Once that became easier you practice doing the ultra motion with the stick started at a different position, while walking fwd, back etc. The previous Mk/DP drill made this easier to do. This is where it tied in to Juris fadc ultra for me.The last fwd of the ex dash is anologous to walking forward into ultra. Its all the practice of going into ultra with the stick started at the fwd position

This is all probably a lil too hardcore but thats what helped me. I dont even do any of this stuff anymore but it seemed whatever little practice I did it stuck. The only problems I have now is that I got used to the stiffer spring, and now I think its gotten weaker and sensitive. That spring made me heavyhanded with the stick.Ultra2 is pretty easy not to say I dont ever F it up tho.

edit: I forgot to say, If you practice with the speed hack alot, whenevr you start playing again the game will seem sloooooowwww. It takes some adjustment and you find yourself playing like your on crack.

Kail’s speaking the truth.

I’d suggest you get the timing and motion down on the P2 side. P1 side feels impossible. I can pull it off on P2 side in training probably 75% of the time. Maybe 5% on P1 lol.

Wow, thanks for all the help guys. Evo’s over, so it’s time to get to practicing.
