Question.
Iāve been working out for the past month now. Iāve noticed Iāve lost some weight, but Iāve also gained muscle. This is good. Iām starting to see results. More on the muscle side than the losing weight side of it though.
My question is, how do I make sure that I donāt turn my fat into muscle? If thatās even possible?
I donāt want to end up like Bolo Yeung or Triple H. You know, with the big huge man boob chest, and just the bulky/huge look.

My current work out schedule goes some-what like so:
Mon: arms, shoulders, triceps.
Tues: back, lower back, chest.
Wed: legs/abs.
Thurs: arms, shoulders, triceps.
Fri: back, lower back, chest.
Sat/Sun: rest.
I kinda answered my own question in my head (cardio/diet while lifting), but I hate cardio stuff (running). So Iām just wondering if thereās a way to lose fat, while gaining muscle at the same time with weights. Maybe more reps w/lighter weights?

IMO, if youāre feeling that beat about your workouts toward the end of the week, perhaps youāre doing too much. I used to feel that way, when I was keeping an insane schedule, lifting every other day and cardio every day for an hourā¦I was feeling really exhausted all the time. Now that Iām on a more reasonable schedule, lifting 3x/week and cardio 3x/week, I feel much better and Iām able to be more intense with my workouts, and I donāt dread doing them.

I donāt think thereās any substitute for cardio to lose weight, but maybe if you diet more, eating fewer calories, you could get away with doing less cardio. Iām not sure if you want to turn your lifting into more of an aerobic workout (lighter weights with more reps). You wonāt grow your muscles as much, and would have just a more toned look. I guess it depends on what you want.

Good point, but I was thinking like maybe 500 less calories per day instead of a half hour cardio session per day.
Does anyone know the difference between these two options? Letās say you eat the 500 calories and do a half hour cardio to burn it off, versus cutting your diet by the 500 calories and skipping the cardio altogether. I know that doing the cardio work has other benefits than just burning calories, but what other differences are there to these approaches?

A friend of mine believes that if you do circuit training, you can skimp on cardio.
My personal defintion for circuit training is: Do reps/sets during your breaks for a muscle. For instance, between benching sets, you do squats.
Two things, one, this is very enjoyable. Iām not standing around like an idiot.
Two, he said he felt like vomiting after he tried this type of work out. Iāve never been near vomiting while doing this, so maybe Iām not doing it right?
But anyway, this is half a cardio answer.
Also, clearly you hate running. So many of us do. Have you tried other types of cardio? I canāt understand how ANYONE can like rowing, but then some do. Maybe youād like hiking? Or maybe swimming? (Swimming is great for people that hurt.)
Yea I figured the same thing. But I was thinking maybe if I did the aerobic workout, then maybe I could lose the weight first, then concentrate on gaining muscle. Blah thatāll take too long. Also I donāt think itās necessary.
That sounds like a good solution. I might have to try that curcuit training. Also I have been looking for other means for a cardio workout. I would swim, but no pool. I could during the summer though since pools are always open during the summer. I was also thinking jump rope. I heard it works pretty much ever muscle in your body and is good a good cardio workout.
Iāll have to look into either of those you suggested.

I got some creatine today. How best should I use it? I want to use a scoop (56g) in the morning, a scoop in my pre-workout shake, and a scoop in my post-workout shake. Is that too much daily?

Iāve read to never workout more than two consecutive days without an off dayā¦I almost always workout in a two on one off two on two off fashion now.
Iāve been mixing fresh strawberries and milk in a blender with a little brown sugar and sometimes bananas and milk (without sugar). Besides that I only drink water and sometimes milk and orange juice. Is that good? I am trying to maintain my weight and possibly loose maybe 4-5 more pounds. Anyway, they say 1 rounded scoop in 6 ounces of cold water after a workout. I make my post-workout shake with 20oz water and whey powder, so I guess itās okay to toss in a scoop.
I think you misunderstood me, I was saying to reduce your calorie intake per day by 500 calories, not to only eat 500 calories (you would probably pass out I imagine). The lowest Iāve gone, in my insanity, was down to eating only 1000 calories per day (I donāt do this anymore). At the same time, I was doing an hour of cardio every dayā¦during this period I would sometimes have dizzy spellsā¦not recommended of course #_#

thatās like eating a total of 10 bananas a day ( 1 banana= 100 cal ) .
by the next morning , youāll probably hungry as fuck .with that outcome , so iāll take that back because that is impossible . The metabolism dropped down drasticly , and begin to burn fat slowly .
anyway , each small meals must be below 500 cals . and i had likeā¦4 meals a day , i guess.
break fast at 7 am , small meal at 10 or 12 , then lunch at the afternoon , cardio then small snack at evening as post workout meal even though is cardio , then dinner .
thatās like 4.5 meals a day >___> , and i need to cut down white rice and fried stuff . my familiy like fry stuff .

Milkās basically my main drink throughout the day, but I heard if you drink too much, your bones start to shed calcium or something to that affect which is really bad. Anyone can provide more information or tell me whatās the max amount of milk I should be drinking in a day?
