thanks dude…my goal is similar to yours. I want to get down to 200 by the end of the summer probably going to be really hard, but I will try my best. my ultimate goal is somewhere with the 165-185 range. I am not really sure just how big I will be at 185 so I figure when I get down there I’ll feel it out and just continue to lose until I hit a weight I am comfortable at.
Hopefully I will be studying in Japan for the next school year, and if that happens I will probably lose weight because of their diet over there. I hear a lot of people lose weight when they stay in Japan for an extended period of time. I just hope the school has a place I can lift at.
and I read that diet posted earlier, and it sounds pretty good. I like that there are legumes for more calories, but like I mentioned before I don’t have my own kitchen. So does anyone here know if I can cook beans in my rice cooker? if so, that would be fuckin awesome, and I may be able to try that particular diet.
My other concern, is eating 6 times a day. It used to be no problem when I lived at home because my parents were buying all the food I ate at home and I only paid for my salads or whatever else I would eat outside the house. but now I live on my own and have to pay for it all. So eating 6 meals a day will add up quick. I would buy in bulk, but I don’t have a freezer… I need to figure out how to make some portable and cheap meals…
So does sodium make a significant impact on weight loss (we’re not discussing health here) but weight loss. I know a lot of sodium makes you retain water but as for weight loss as in fat, does it have an impact? I sometimes resort to a lot of frozen stuff like (frozen fully cooked marinated chicken breasts) and veggies in a can. I try to buy the ones with no salt added but it’s not always easy to find.
Not yet, I plan on doing that but my lease doesn’t expire until the end of July and even then I may be studying in Japan next school year. So hopefully, if I go to Japan, when I get back I can find a better place.
To be honest I haven’t looked, but I live in Hawaii and everything is imported. I remember these sausages my mom used to buy. A pack of 14 was like $12.50 in California… out here a pack of 4 is $6.50… and last time I checked a gallon of milk was about $6. I would buy in bulk, but I don’t have a fridge with a freezer… I supposed I could just buy a couple chicken breasts at a time. I’ll look into it, but generally shit is expensive out here…
Anyhow, my mom is shipping me an extra crock pot…so that would solve the cooking beans thing. I guess I’ll just have to start buying some chicken breasts.
as a side note, i notice certain things at costco are the same price or even more expensive than regular price (that is, not ‘on sale’) at the supermarket. And usually smaller packaging is more convenient unless you’re cooking for a family.
just be careful! I know i got fooled a few times before, although I generally still shop at costco.
It couldn’t hurt if you wanna lose weight. Just remember to do big money exercises like squats and deadlifts to get the most out of your time in the gym. Doing a morning GPP warmup would be good. 5 x 10 burpees or something to get your metabolism kick started couldn’t hurt. It might be a good idea to down a bit of protein right before you do so in order to hold onto muscle mass.
No, it’ll actually hinder your endurance and encourage cramping.
You’ll retain water, so your # on the scale won’t fluctuate, but you’ll still be losing the same amount of fat. Sodium really shouldn’t be something you’re worrying about unless you have or are close to having hypertension. That and if you need to make weight or are gonna compete in some sort of figure competition. It couldn’t hurt to keep your sodium consumption in check, but it’s not something I’d really worry about.
hey, i remember magnuss talking about why burn out sets are bad and the reasons (like it had a scientific explanation, acid, proteins blah blah) but i do not remember what it was, doesnt anyone have a link to it or know??? thanks!
When I do shrugs, my grip gives out before my traps do, and I just don’t feel as much burn with standing rows. Until my hands get stronger, is there a better excercise I can do for my traps?
I’m coming off a bad ankle sprain and need some exercises to help this poor ankle get back into shape. I was thinking of doing 10 - 15 minutes of light cycling, but can anyone recommend anything else? anyone have a similar experience?
I don’t think they have a shrug machine, but I’ll look around.
Will my grip strength increase just from the shrugs? I hit failure or close to it by the time I shrug 12 reps. Or should I do some other grip exercise?
My bro was telling me I need to lift faster. But I’ve heard slow reps are the key to gain, so I’m interested in hearing an answer to this.
I finally got around to adding deadlifts to my routine. They are much more taxing than they look. I got through some standard sets, but I think I might reduce the weight. I was shaking through some of the exercises I did afterward. I feel great now, but I’ll probably be sore tomorrow…
I want to lose weight. I have lost over 100 lbs in the past couple of years and lost a bunch of muscle too. The past buncha months I built up a lot of muscle back. So here is my question. If I do a full body workout once a week, will it keep me from losing my muscle while I do cardio the other days of the week. I already follow a diet and all that good stuff.
