Ok, I’ve been going to the gym since January. I started out 3x a week workin full body. after about a month and a half. I switched to Mon/Tues Thurs/Friday doing Upper/lower. and I try and go for cardio everyday at least 30 minutes.
my goal is to lose weight(I’ve lost 50 lbs already), but I’ve been doing my routine for the past month and a half now. and i was wondering if I should bother changing my routine. also, could someone explain some of the terminology like what a superset is and unload. cuz I don’t really know what that shit is, and I see you guys mention them whenever you post up a routine. and do i even need to worry about any of that? any help is appreciated.
i totally agree, kevin is my fdavourite bodybuilder and definately has the best tris i’ve ever seen. Shame he’s no longer bodybuilding, especially since his acting career seems to have bombed too.
no, I lost about 50 pounds in a little over 4 months. I started doing atkins at the end of November, but didn’t get into the gym until January. I’m still staying away from sugars and shit like that but I’m pretty much off the atkins.
a superset is a combination of 2 exercises one after another…for example if i say that i am going to do bicept barbell curls superseted with tricept dumbbell overhead extensions…that means that immediately after doing the curls i go into the tricept exercise with no rest…so after the tricept excercise is done you would count that as 1 set…
unloading, as in an unloading phase…is like a period of time for example 1 week, where you give your body a rest, not by completely stoping your workouts, but by reducing the weight significantly and doing less reps…so basically it is a very light week to allow your body to recover…
whats that? but also I stopped atkins, too hard to maintain especially being filipino with all the rice at every meal. lol. now I just try and stay away from processed sugars and fat foods.
ive never understood supersetting. a guy at my gym does deadlifts followed by lunges. it just seems like u wont be able to go full strength on the lunge because u just deadlifted and you sure arent throwing more energy out than u were 2 seconds before u deadlifted…
No not because of that because someone mentioned that they saw one person in the gym do normal reps and sets then after that did the same exercise on light weight for as many reps as he could do. Magnus said that was another form of supersetting.
lol well i will say my diet is a lot stricter now but its still not at a respectable point. i’m eating around 2500 cals a day, 3 weeks ago i was 196lbs and 20.8% body fat( FUCKING SAD, last summer i was around 185lbs, 17.5%bf). as of today i am 191lbs and 19.4% body fat. i need to stop slacking on the cardio, its killing me. so i guess its slight progress but im aiming for around 17% body fat and around 185lbs by june.
my goal for the end of the year is to get around 12-13% bf and keep my weight between 180-190lbs. don’t know how reasonable it is but i will try.
i used one of those bmi calcs online and i got a 25.2 and it said im overweight:confused: lol wtf. thats harsh, probably the first time anyone besides my ignorant step brother has anyone called me overweight.
yeah BMI calcs don’t really say much about body composition. afaik there’ve been rules in some armies that prohibit people with BMIs that were “too high” from entering, even if they were really just very well built. at the very least body fat measurements (or heart rate/blood pressure levels) should be used to supplement that.
i’m 66kg, 164cm (about 5’5", 150lbs). being asian sucks.
im a pretty thin guy myself, but I have a little gut going that id like to get rid of but I dont want to lose that much weight, just the gut. Is that possible?
