i have Olympic weightlifting plates all over my house, from 2.5kg to 50kg.
I’d prefer to make some type of L shaped metal stand that connects to the bottom of the joystick. i can add the weights onto the bar to keep it sturdy. if that makes any sense.
Yes and welding it to the table will be even better then bolting.
for side to side motion, rubber non-slip pads/sheets will keep it perfectly still, doesn’t fvck up your table, doesn’t require some huge work bench to be built and can be easily removed from your table.
If you want the arcade fell, different story but for those that simply want stability, they don’t need to go to the lengths of bolting it down.
^Just to let you know the wood on top cost me only $1 at homedepot. The orginal was a glass piece ontop, so yea. And why the fcuk would you want to weld a stick to a table? plain fcuking stupid if you ask me.
I think what he’s trying to say is some people would respond the same way you just did to bolting a stick down to their coffee table. I don’t think it’s dumb to do so, but I’m not going to do it. I will probably use those gripping sheets as I have a roll or two already in my garage somewhere.
I realize it’s not expensive…but it does take up a lot of space. You seem to have a nice living room based on the pic and that table (not the coffee table) is an eyesore so I’m sure you put it away when either not in use or when you have people over.
The welding comment was obviously a joke, in reference to Mr Bolt it or it will move across the room and dance’s comments. Obviously you wouldn’t weld it, c’mon don’t tell me you’re that thick you didn’t realize I was being facetious.
I was giving an alternative to the people that don’t want it their stick to move side to side. Instead of ruining a coffee table, making a large set up like yours which takes up a lot of space, or pouring fvcking concrete in the stick.
I hot glued 2 giant bolts inside mine. They probably weigh a little more than a pound each. Keeps my american stick in place quite nicely, only drawback is lugging it around at tourneys cuz it’s heavy.
I recently came across the self-adhesive eDead 120 soundproofing material. It is flexible, you cut it to fit with scissors, and you can layer it for even more weight. It’s relatively cheap and can be attached to pretty much anything. I used it INSIDE my Xbox 360 Hori EX2 and am very happy with the additional weight. Since arcade sticks are making a massive comeback, and not everyone can bolt theirs to a table, I thought this thread might need a bump as it is a very relevant question.
For my T5 stick i just got a bunch of coins & put in those bubble wrap…I then insert the bubble wrap w/coin in the plastic hole where you insert the screws…Gives it good weight…
