I was just thinking about how Beasley’s cab has had some of Kuenai’s parts in it ‘on loan’ since the week before NW Majors. For the last 13 months or so, we have all put in quite a few games on Beasley’s cab. I think everyone agrees that the controls have taken a pounding. At the session prior to NW Majors, EVERYONE was struggling to execute on those gummy sticks, and some of the buttons would fail to pop back up. This was the reason why Kuenai kindly swapped out the parts for some of his extras. But we’ve sort of left him holding the bag by keeping those parts there and not revisiting the issue.

I think a more permanent solution should be found. I also think that we should help out collectively.

I looked on Lizard Lick just now, and two sets of sanwa controls (with insurance but minus start buttons) would run just under $100 shipped. There is a small circle of us who have spent more than a few sessions at Beasley’s. I figured that if just 10 of us are willing to throw in $10 a piece, we could buy new sticks and buttons for that mofo. I’d count myself among that number.

I understand that not everyone’s assets are solvent. I can also appreciate that not everyone can spare the scrilla. But this is for the good of the ST community. So please let me know if you can pledge $10 to the fund, or just hand me the money in person at one of the local gaming sessions. If you’d like to help out with a smaller (or larger) sum, or if you just don’t wanna be as openly vocal, feel free to PM me.

*I went with Lizard Lick’s pricing since I’ve heard horror stories about dealing with Ponyboy. Pablo still hasn’t gotten his Happ parts from a month ago.
**The $100 price tag is most likely an upper bound. I’ll talk to Jamie or someone who knows more about Jap parts and go over what models of sticks/buttons we should buy.

I say we just get two sanwa sticks and two sets of buttons. Lizard lick for sure. I believe Ponyboy to be an inconsistent Vietnamese guy living out of a warehouse in Compton. Hence, him failing to produce the goods I had paid for a month ago. To be fair, the two previous times I ordered I got my shit in the same week. Lizard lick ships fast though, and the owner is fluent in English. Communication is always a bonus.

I’m guessing he can’t lose any more customers, really. He’s pretty much lost all revenue from official builders, since he’s hella inconsistent. One time it comes right away, the next it takes two months.

Keith: I’ll look into pricing and such and put the order together if people will chip in. I’ll also get the layout redone if possible next time we’re at Zass’s, so no more randomly close top buttons with the hella wide lower buttons.

Most likely not. The people that I was hoping to meet up with tell me that they won’t be in attendance. Still, it might be fun to yell at and shame ST players for not being more vocal about the Beasley fund. And the allure of teh Mahvelz is great. If Kuenai will MM me to add to the Beasley fund, I’ll definitely show.

How certain are you of your own attendance. If you’ll be at Preppy’s for sure, and if I decide to pop in at the last moment, I’ll know to bring it.
