We need more ST players in Seattle

^^ Haha!

i’ve been learning dhalism guys dope any suggestions besides tick throws please

I just wished that there were more casual gaming sessions in the greater Seattle area. Of the 37 people that took part in last season’s Super Turbo tournaments, I only had the honor of playing against a whooping total of 8 in ST. Granted, I only played the game for a one month period. But a higher frequency of casual gatherings would have been more invigorating to the scene.

About 95% of the occasions between Jan and May when Rairu would call me up to play MvC2, I’d drop whatever plans I had and go gaming. I harbored no delusions of grandeur. I knew I’d still get crushed in tournaments. I just liked to play the game. So if the local ST players are serious about making some noise at EVO2k8, you guys should really start playing at a higher rate. Not all gaming sessions need to be large gatherings of rambunctious inebriated hedonism. You guys should start forming up in groups of 2 or 3 and start playing weekly on top of going to Julien’s or Zach’s. And you should cycle players between gatherings so that you don’t get tunnel vision from playing the same match-ups over and over–like Julian had at the beginning of the season from playing only Nate.

My point is simple. The ST players presently seem to harbor more passion for their game than the Marvel players. It would be a shame to let this interest taper off. You need to stop waiting for the next big gaming night, and just start calling and PMing people and forming your own. You all already know each other. You don’t hate each other like the 3s players seem to.* Why wait. The plan a party shindig thread that was started many moons ago has yet to facilitate a single gaming session that I’m aware of.

*If you play 3s in Seattle, don’t lie. You know it’s true. You’re not all cool with each other.

Actually those sessions when I was only playing Nate really improved my game greatly… it was when we STOPPED doing that because of me getting a job and Nate having 85 different yobs that I have been kinda going downhill. I learn the most from when I play Nate and Julien.

Also you don’t realize how hard it is to get anyone on SRK to actually show up to a game night unless your last name is Beasely and you own an arcade cab. I swore off inviting people ever again cus of the 3 times in a row I set aside a day on the weekend for nothing but practicing ST, and no one who said they would show up actually bothered to. But I’ve since then had some semi-successful gatherings, so I’d invite people now that I am not working so much overtime, I just don’t wanna cramp people and make them ST’d out when they are already going to Zach’s and soon Preppy’s too.

And Nate’s ass falls asleep all the time when he’s supposed to be going somewhere, so I really dunno. I’ll just practice in ghetto training mode on Xbox on my own and Julien’s and Zach’s. And I am not going to bother to go to evo anyways.

I will go to any session any time any day from now until Evo

I’m in training mode for at least four hours a day, and I STILL CAN’T DO MY COMBOS(with consistency in a match). ugh

I’m up for any early weekday gatherings (besides this thusday). PM me or call me if you have the number. I REALLY want to get better at this game and play with someone who doesn’t get sick of it after 25 mins coughpaulcough

Well that’s probably due to the fact that as of right now, only Kyle is going to Evo from the Marvel group. No real need to practice hella if there’s no Evo in sight for another year or so.

But that’s another story for another thread.

Then make a thread, yo!

The Seattle Marvel thread got bumped up a little while ago…

Eh, I misphrased that, I guess. Enlighten those of us who don’t already know of the situation. Not on the 'net much.

Yeah…all of us except for Keith have jobs as far as I know. Good luck with that one.

Not sure how I feel about that match.

That match was raw, but the last round was so gross.

I know what you mean

I thought it was a good match. I kinda hoped it would’ve been 3/5 instead of 2/3 but oh well.

I just think I’ve seen better from both players before though.

Questions: were there any Japanese there, or only at World? Did Yohsuke go?

What about the Wolfe brothers?

There is another evo west thread that had more up-to-date results, i.e. who eliminated who.
