It’s just experience with the Match up Good sir, you’ll get me next time. I have LOTS of practice in the match up because I played against Mechanica on a regular basis prior to Evo.

Viper has the advantage against Seth by baiting his Ultra. The Fake seismo, the full-screen early flame kick for cross-up. They are both intent on wasting a Seth ultra because you have so much mix-up off of just those 2 moves.

I don’t sleep, which is why I’m cranky. :frowning:

I have a 70 foot CAT5 running from my Bed room through my kitchen, to my living room to my Xbox. After 75 feet, you get packet problems (Loss and everything tends to increase unless you are using a CAT6 aka Gigabit cable for longer than 75 feet).

He ended up playing me Elias, and I know all dat trickery from you. Which is why I don’t throw shit against Fuerte… Ex Dash just rips Seth in 1/2.

You missed a good Zach’s (aside from the theft), LOTS of awesome pwnage going on.

Cross-up actually make most combos harder to do in this game not easier, crossups end up pushing you further away from a character than a front jump in (mostly just because you have to jump past them so you end up landing further away though I assume the push back is the same) I can’t think of a character it doesn’t work on through a front jump in when done super deep. But yeah if you hit the edge of a jump in it’s not always going to work. Its pretty easy to judge the distance though, except against boxer who for some reason shrinks away from you like a little girl as you hit him so its impossible off a cross up and hard to judge off a jump-in midscreen.

Qft. I really only FFF if I know ahead of time what side I’m landing on. Impossible to hit-confirm if you’re going for ambiguous crossup. To expand upon the boxer analysis, I haven’t seen FFF whiff on any standing characters at the right distance, but even at point blank range, it will whiff on a crouching boxer (and some other cast members, can’t remember at the moment). Julian, you’re doing plenty of damage w/ just hp xx ex. seismo xx flame-kick/mp. tk, save the FFF for the sure thing.

Edit: Btw, FFF stands for fierce-feint-fierce, not fierce-focus-fierce. Focusing will definitely not give you enough time for another fierce.

Hey Jared, if you do a lp tandem engine and it is blocked are you safe or unsafe? I’ve been practicing seth against the computer and Im not usually punished for it but I haven’t tried it against people yet much.

Before I got the wireless adapter I was running a long ass cable from my room upstairs, down to where my xbox is downstairs and it eventually just kind of broke on me…darn piece of crap.

Seth is pro.

I NEVER look at the frame data, but here’s what I gathered from that Shoryuken Wiki thingy ma bobber:

LP Engine = 21start, 24 active, +19 blocked, +23 hit
MP Engine = 24start, 25 active, +19 blocked, +23 hit
HP Engine = 26start, 26 active, +19 blocked, +23 hit

I’ve seen to catch a lot people in this weird trap: LP Engine->c.jab,c.jab,c.jab->LP Engine-> repeat…

It’s odd enough and sometimes lucky to catch someone trying to jump out or you can SPD after the first or second jab on block, I believe. Don’t quote me, because I’m never ballsy enough to do the c.jab blocked to SPD… just seems scary if they mash out uppercut.

Typically, I will engine anyone who thinks they can Ultra from 1/2 screen+, because Seth’s Engine sucks some characters out of their Ultras (Sagat I know for sure), his Super sucks almost all characters out of their Ultra’s (even if they counter-ultra against Seth’s super), Chun Li, Honda, Bison… Not Blanka, and I don’t know about Abel.

Yeah I’ve been getting some tricks just from playing him. LP Tandem->Jab Block string or jab-tick-spd.

You can get a standing fierce from a low short. c.short->c.jab Link s.fierce. BUFF! Fierce is 200 stun by itself, and if you hit confirm end with lk/mk Legs (headstomp followup in corner).

Thanks for that engine info by the way…so if they block it I am for sure safe!

I actually kind of hate having super, because if I land c.fierce I usually go into lp shoryu->headstomps. With super about 75% of the time I end up getting c.fierce->super and that sucks. Super is bad for anti-air. I’ll often just start blowing bar on ex-legs (anti-footsies) or ex-booms just to NOT have super. Ex Tandem is nice too.

Nasty, more Seth players haha. I need the practice I suppose.

I’m improving my Non-wall game… I’m working on a sick combo, let you know when I’m 100% on applying it to my game!

BOOOO SETH . VIPER is LEGIT

SAM B A HATER?
Viper is legit, but I hate backdash viper

Must not be VIP~! J/k man, I believe I met you at Evo and you were a cool guy to chill with, if only it was for a moment or two. Viper is sick, I’m just not skilled enough to use her (I haven’t even tried once yet, but I doubt I want to even embarrass myself by thinking about her).

FIXED! <3 Nolan

Ghrrk hit me up on AIM, I can teach you how to kill that shit lol.

I hate all you gimmick character players!

yes im talken to you Honda, Feurte and more so you fuckin blanka players that just spam out normals on live b/c half the time the net is to slow for a other guy to respond like what should be done when playin in person. makes me hate playing net cause i know half that shit happen in person.

Dont mind me, i just hate losing to shit i know how to beat but theres nothing i can do about it…

welcome to online play.

real talk.

Honestly several of us have said time and time again, online play makes people angry and worse at the game. Don’t do it. As tempting as it is, just add a bunch of local people on live and invite them if you need to play and can’t leave the house. It’s the truth.

SFIV online is a nightmare unless it’s strictly local. Even then it can get nasty.

i played 2 bisons today as viper…and i really really wished i could’ve ran that back as bison…they both were HELLA WEAK, doing the shit that everyone was bitching about. now as viper i didn’t know what the fuck to do against that shit except to back dash against headstomps but if i were bison…noooooooo scrape city (ended up picking bison and was mobbing through gaining points).

But yeah online sucks, I play championship online as viper because at least i can try to get a grasp on her gameplay. Plus no long rotatoins =D

That match is pretty tough! (I usually have a hard tiime in that match, like once you knock him down teleports can make it hard to stay on in him not to mention ex crushers and the like) You probably know how nice it can be for bison. A few random notes from my time playing that match back dash against headstomp can work well, but sometimes puts you to far away for a punish. Another good option is to simply walk out if you have the time and then punish with a fierce xx seismo combo. More importantly against the Devil reverse you can seismo him out of it as he lands you just have to tell where he is going to go go, usually that means mid-range or to the other side (in my experience 90% of the time is far) then if you get that knockdown, proceed to just safe jump the shit out of him with ambigous roundhouse and if he teleports try to seismo it on reaction (often you can use the safe jump buffer trick and buffer a mp seismo which will catch alot of ports, unless he stays next to you and then you’ll get thrown so obviously you have to feel out your opponent) Anyway, hopefully the helps, the world needs more viper players, that mirror match is hella random and fun, imo.

Also if you already know most of these strats, just ignore me, haha.

Man, I played some SFIV online last night…

…Shit was horrible, even on a full green bar. I’ve never played such a shitty, lagtastic match before. Let’s just say that this isn’t what I’m used to in Japan. Like seriously, the green bar connection I got last night was equivalent to a 2 bar connection in Japan. A full bar in Japan is almost lag free. Now I finally understand why people complain about SFIV’s shitty online connection in the U.S.

However, the connection is still not as horrible as KOFXII’s. Shit fuckin sucks even in Japan! LoL.
