We Need More SFIV Players in Seattle

I don’t like the saving attack cancels. Does gief even need them? I know BABEL does, but that will require practice which I eventually hope to get to one of these days.

Also, I am hella going to abuse the 3K button when I use Bayrack Obalrog. TAP charge all day son.

The “can’t jump” challenge is hilarious against CPU Akuma as Zangief. I pretty much eat two Raging Demons for free.

I thought FADC were going to be tough as hell to learn until I realized that you always need to dash out of Focus Attacks, so comboing afterwards is all you need to think about.

Focus attack hits, dash out to combo. Misses, dash out for safety. Blocked, dash in or out depending on what you want to do. Canceling an attack, dash out.

I am learning Cammy, Gouken and Balrog. 3 characters Marvel style.

When they block your Saving Attacj you are at negative advantage, so on block they should be able to punish…

Preppy, you can jab Akuma out of his ultra demon, but the super one acts as a command throw when he’s right next to you.

how much disadvantage?

I think your right that they always have frame advantage, but depending on the speed of your dash, you could catch them off guard for a throw.

Yes, although not as much as others. The main reason he needs SADC is if EX-Greenhand is blocked, SA cancel and dash back. This is especially important in endgame since Gief is so vulnerable if Greenhand is blocked.

That’s not always necessarily true about being at a disadvantage when someone blocks your saving attack. Chun isn’t at disadvantage after a saving attack is blocked, in fact she’s at even frames (maybe even better). I remember hearing a while ago that if Abel makes you block his level one saving attack that he has slight frame advantage. Also I’m pretty sure if you block a level two, you have to weather the storm.

SA on block definitely IS a disadvantage on block, however it depends on what lvl you break it at. Most characters have a dash of 18 frames, and an SA lvl 1 gives only 15 blockstun…meaning after the dash in, you would be at a disadvantage of -4. Some characters however can have an advantage…mostly characters with a fast dash (Chun, Fuerte, Bison, Abel, etc.). On top of that any lvl 2 SA will give 21 block stun…giving a slight advantage.

On a side note, characters who DP, SADC on block are at a very slight advantage (if my math is correct shoryu does 21 hit block stun, and most dashes are 18 frames long).

Hmm, I wonder how fast Fei Long’s dash comes out?

The SF4 team can pretty much go fuck themselves when it comes to Challenges. The computer being set to auto-parry everything is pretty tight when the d-pad and the buttons are already so extra reliable. I can’t blame them for hi kwality hardware design, I can blame them for stupid AI that makes me doubt that they were playing on d-pad themselves. Or if they were, they’re some jaded motherfuckers.

It was pretty amusing losing to a fireball spamming Ken when my left triggers weren’t working. Took me half a life bar before I gave up on that notion. =\

edit: the auto-parry is why most of the cpu opponents die so stupidly to gief’s lariat: they focus against hit one and get hit by hit two. woot.

FADC throw never works. Everyone’s first reaction is to throw. I guess a tech’d throw is better than eating damage but meh, if you’re gonna dash cancel it on an obviously blocked hit, I would backdash.

Thats where the mind games come from…FADC throw may not work as it’s “everyone’s first reaction to throw” however, FADC, DP will beat that throw attempt/tech instantly.

no u

I don’t get FADC and look forward to learning it. As a Gief player … dash… ???

I need to use more FADC and FA in general. Combos too.

Yup! I’m in it to win it.

Get at me.

Man i been dominating with gief…SFIV getting way too boring either Gief is too overpowered or just way too many scrubs out there…

Since i dont have a stick at the moment, im going to start using Dhalsim for awhile…He seems fun& pad should be easy to use for him…

Gief is very strong, opponents need to be very careful, or just pick sagat.

Yes. I spazz out, though. I’m like Shoryu-FA-ff-epilepsy.

Gah.
