Hey all,
This is Jason (formerly of Olympia) from back in the Southcenter/Lanwerx MvC2 days. I’ve only posted on this site like twice in the last three years and I don’t really recognize too many of the names in here, but I just wanted to say that I’ve been living in Seattle for awhile now, and I’m looking for some play time with people once this is out. I tried playing Street Fighter IV for a good while, but wasn’t really feeling it. However, I am mad hype for Marvel 3 and looking to recreate the old MvC2 glory!
Also, two of my old Team Olympia compatriots (Saige and Karl) are living in Redmond now and both plan to get back on for Marvel 3. We’d all be down for any group gatherings that take place. Sorry if that’s ambiguous, but I don’t really know where people play these days (aside from Gameworks).
Shout-outs to Deezo, Frank, and Sam B. Good to see you guys are all still hanging out on here. We should get in some games for sure!

Hahaha. Good to know I’m still remembered. I shouted so much random stuff during those big screen matches- I remember how disappointed I was when they lost all the audio with the direct feed footage. I think you can still hear it in the background of one of the matches, though.
Where do you guys play these days? Just online, or are there still regular hangouts at houses? I haven’t played with any folks in person in ages. I haven’t played on xbox live in a long time either, but I’ll have it back up soon. I look forward to seeing your T.Bonne on the virtual battlefield.

I was pretty stunned at the amount of damage Phoenix takes until I realized that she essentially has 2 life bars with an automatic burst if you are willing to hold onto the 5 supers.
Since she breaks free of the combo and transforms when her first life bar is gone, she essentially can’t be 100%'ed by any character. Damage will always stop at 50%. However, her defense is so low I think any character can kill her from full life with the most basic combo. Ryu did 3 normals, a fireball and super on the ground and she transformed from full life before the super even finished.
The healing super should help offset that a bit though. But then you don’t have your 5 bars in case you get hit once… O.o
I don’t think the healing super will help all that much against some teams. Since she has to be in your face attacking for it to work. One good advancing guard and she is back to full screen. One good zoning character and she stays there and bleeds out.
Although she does have a teleport iirc. So I could be completely wrong. I guess we’ll see how it all plays out pretty soon.

So far Phoenix has been the only the character that confuses me. She will either be garbage, or retarded good. Easy mode sentinel is hilarious.
So for those that played MvC2, does Sentinel look OP in MvC3? Judging from the videos, his combos didn’t do as much damage as in MvC2.
I think it is really hard to tell right now, but we’ll probably get a good idea week 1. I think it is totally hilarious that people are analyzing a game so hard that isn’t even out. I’m all for the people playtesting it so it’s not borked when it’s out.
Sentinel looked like buttered toast compared to MVC2 Sentinel, but MVC2 Sentinel doesn’t look that much better when I play him, so I will reserve judgment.
