I’ve been playing Arad Senki, the Japanese version… female mechanic, now actually higher level than my fighter in DFO… I don’t know.
On the one hand, Arad is better. Exp. curve, lower prices (I could afford some avatar stuff!), auction house, more content… Then again, if the choice is playing a slightly better game vs. playing with friends, I’d like to think that friends would be a better choice. And there’s minor VPN & lag issues with playing a game on Japanese servers.
But I guess I just rarely saw people I know on DFO. So why wouldn’t I go for the better game? 
Either I need more friends playing DFO, or I need to coordinate with AIM, which is what it sounds like you’re doing.
In other late-to-the-party news… The music and sound files are easily replaced.
Cool if you want to add in the Korean vocal track instead of the instrumental opening, add in your favorite beats (marvel music? :P), or just replace some of the hideous arena butt-rock.
You can also download the Japanese sound pack and replace the voices, like, for example, the mage.
