Arakune is a pretty crazy character.
He has teleports, so if you see him poof! thats a port.
his j.2 a/b/c are downwards dive attacks that curve him in a certain direction…they can cancel into each other (but not two of the same one in a row) j.2a brings him backwards, j.2b will drop him directly down, and j.2c brings him forwards.
The clouds he summons are one of his primary ways to curse. When he does curse, the “negative edge” of each normal attack he does also summons a bug. He can also control which angle some of them come from, but they ALL hit mid, so its not any high/low mixup straight from the bugs…those all come from Arakune himself.
Other than his clouds, his drive attacks usually involve him shooting or summoning some kind of bug or something, and they usually curse too.
If you hit him once, he loses any cloud and you lose any curse.
He is primarily a zoning character with interesting mixup/rushdown, and he becomes very powerful when he curses a foo. I think his primary defensive option other than barrier/blocking is his teleport, and if you figure out where he wants to go its punishable. I think staying on top of him and being cautious is the biggest key to defeating him. His jumps are mostly floaty so he will move by attacking, anti-airs are good there I think. I need to play this game to really figure it out.
Most (if not all) of his tricks seem to be pretty much figured out, I’ve only noticed maybe two different playstyles for him out of all the japanese video’s I’ve watched so far.
In round two there of Jin vs Arakune, Jin got a little reckless while he was cursed and threw out supers so arakune hit him with hella bees, moved in and combo’d his ass. Then Jin was cursed and in a corner which is like “Hallelujah!” for arakune, so he was probably setting Jin up for an unblockable and Jin didn’t escape well and ate nasty bug damage.
BTW that Jin player was NASTY! Tons of good shit from him, saw quite a few new things.
