"We Can Team, but all the money goes to me" Balrog Synergy thread

Well what do you guys thing is a good teammate for Balrog? For me right now I’m messing with a team of Chun-li X Balrog since chun is more of a midrange character, but she’s able to zone with her fireballs plus she’s able to close in. I’m not familar with their combo situation because of my suckiness with combos, but right now it’s seeming to work. I’ve wanted to try Balrog X Kuma ,but fb’s would kill them both.

So what about you guys?

just don’t bother using Balrog tbh. Damage output is low without meter. Without focus attack and Armour on his overhead and smash low you will find that decent player will just block low all day. Can’t head butt crouching opponents. His Jab pressure is non-existent. Frame traps work, but the question is will be get in close enough to use them? The answer is no. His air to air is beyond crap. Never use Jumping HK. The hit box is weird. jumping lk is good but low damage. Ive been running balrog/bison from release and I will tell you now its been bison doing a lot of the work in my matches.

balrog get good meterless damage he take a heell of lot of patience. jp hp is awesome air to air whe timed right and you can do to heavy punches with him. balrog works better with characters that can ground bounce or wall bounce which bison has neither.

From what little of Balrog I’ve seen, he’s a pretty strong and versatile point character. He’s not really meant to go for damage, but with very strong pokes and A-Air and the like he can really control the flow of the game and, like a real boxer, has a strong case of winning by timeout. Besides his strong buffered pokes, he has the ability to safe tag out of any of his throws, so it is a nice free eject button to the anchor character if things get messy.
As for damage, he can use his pokes into launcher, so I feel it is important to pair him with someone with great damage potential off tags. Right now my team is Balrog/King, I play all the footsies with Balrog and make sure King gets in to deal huge damage and mix the opponent up.
At the same time, Balrog’s ability to footsy/poke and manage time might make him a strong partner with another turtler, like a Guile. Dunno how strong this is though, because you lose damage potential and I cannot play Guile well enough to experiment.

To TC: I actually think that Kuma has a very strong anti-fireball game. He’s got two moves that can punish them on reaction. It’s an interesting team you should try it out.
