Wolverine is a tricky rush down character, and with a log trap behind him, he benefits greatly.
Rocket can get a hit in pretty fast, but killing is a problem.
Virgil has no trouble killing anybody ever, has a dumb crossover counter, and behind rocket could probably be very scary.
What I’m looking for, is where this breaks down, if anywhere. So if anyone played one of those characters on their teams, they could offer some insight on the matter.
Yeah, it’s pretty much a standard that RR loves second. To me, he’s actually the leader of his team, he brings them all in line and ties them together.
I am using a Trish (high voltage), Rocket Raccoon (log trap) and Doctor Doom (missiles). However I have been having difficulty playing against my friend who almost always has doom with missiles and often the strider vajra assist or sentinel drones. The basic plan is to keep away until I can get a hit confirm with missiles or log trap into the unblockable for a kill. However I seem to be having difficulty since it seems easy to horizontally space me out since log trap does not have much projectile durability and the missles+vajra assists keep trish out of the air. This makes both rush down and keep away very difficult (although this is partically because we have only been able to play online lately)
Do you guys feel the spitfire assist for RR would be a better choice for these kinds of matchups? Or should I just stick to pendulum?
On the opposite side of this do you feel peekaboo would help the team at all? Currently when trish is still alive I use high voltage for left/right mixups with his teleport. But when a character attacks peekaboo it causes that attack to whiff, similar to the armor that claymore trap can create for low attacks. I was thinking this assist causing whiffs could maybe protect rocket racoons traps or I could use peekaboo for some close range mixups. But I am unsure about this since high voltage is nice since rocket can easily get spaced our if you aren’t careful.
I use low voltage. I tried using her trap assists a long time ago but I feel like RR gets soo much mileage out of a projectile assist. Have you tried using Plasma beam so that losing low voltage doesn’t hurt you?
I did find however that it’s actually difficult for RR to confirm off of Peekaboo because it holds the character out of RR’s reach. Maybe you have to Rom combo?
Hey guys I need some help setting my team order. I got Logan/RR/Ammy right now, but I don’t know if I should put RR on anchor or not. Does Rocket benefit more with level 3X or cold star assist?
The base of it is a raw tag combo off a Raccoon Spring when the opponent is at the screen edge:
:f::h:,:qcb::l:+:m: (tag Haggar) :l:,,:dp::l:
(use M+H spring when facing left)
The setup is when Haggar is on point, where you chain a ton of invincible shit together until something hits:
Opponent must be backed up to the edge of the screen (not stage, just the visible screen)
With Haggar on point, do a random (and invincible) lariat in their face.
On block or whiff, delayed cancel into RFF hyper (also invincible).
On block, delay a DHC into Raccoon spring (backward bounce: L+M when facing right, M+H when facing left)
If you see them twitch, hold raw tag to bring Haggar straight back in.
Several things can happen:
[]Opponent gets hit by Lariat. Haggar combos off it and kills them.
[]Opponent gets hit by RFF. Haggar combos off it and kills them.
[]Opponent gets hit by the Spring. Haggar raw tag hits, combos into L,M,dp+L and kills them.
[]Opponent blocks the Spring. If this happens there are a few more options:
Rush in with Raccoon. He has plenty of options from that range.
Raw tag Haggar anyway. The spring pushes them into it and Haggar can combo on hit and kill them. Risky as it’s very punishable if they pushblock the spring
I don’t know if any other characters have raw tag animations that work as consistently as Haggar’s, but there are probably a few.
I think Haggar works well because he ignores [S]damage[/S] hitstun scaling. I’m pretty sure you can get most other character’s raw tag animation to work with log trap if you can’t get it to work with Mad Hopper.
Hey guys. I’m gonna give Rocket Raccoon a try on my Joe team as opposed to Ammy. I’d like to have an easier way to get confirms basically. Who are some good candidates for Joe/X/Raccoon. I don’t know much about RR shells. Possibly Chris. Joe builds meter and Chris can link supers as well as zone decently with Log Trap. Please drop some suggestions thanks!
well frank would be the first person i say, because i play that team to. Shopping cart is a good get off me assist. And easy to hit confirm from if u plink dash in and slide. Mag’s Destruptor helps with the zoning and keep away, and get dirty cross ups with RR with it. Or taskmaster, easy character to learn H.arrows is a good assist, and u can go for infinite bomb set ups when your player 1
I think Tonosama’s idea of having Ammy behind RR is an even better idea. You get bullshit unblockables because of ammy assist, plus if RR dies, you get a pretty good anchor.
Btw, I’ve picked up Kusoru’s team. It’s pretty cheap, if you can get Frank to level 4+, but it loses to beam teams I feel. Especially if they like to just zone you out. I’ve got people pressuring me to make a decision on a main team, and to them this is the best team. True, Frank is cheaper than Cap, and if I wanted to play competitively, I feel I need at least one cheap character, but I’m not sure if I like Frank all that much. There’s too many problems with that character.
Also, there is a hard tag combo w/ Joe -> Frank for a level 3. It’s hard as hell to time though.
Whatever I end up with going, RR will definitely be in the team.
